Just encountered a little boy call Rupert! I put that up there with Harvey and Fred as names for donkeys, not little boys.

There was a woman on the TV just now called Storm. Hippy name!

Obviously named after her mother because, at point of conception, when the mother came she was wet and wild.... :)

Sharleen Spiteri (rock band, Texas) has a child called Misty Kyd. The dad's surname is Heath so the child must go through life as Misty Heath. She chose it after seeing "Play Misty for me." Celebs eh?

    P.S, isn't Ronan Keating's g/f called Storm?

It's OK as a middle name, but I can't standa as a first name or last name.

    Don't get me started....

I know a guy named Raphael, bad enough except the folks pronounced it as Ray -fell not its proper pronunciation Ra-fi-Elle.

It drives me batty everytime I hear his mam call out his name. I mean, he was ten same as me when the teenage mutant ninja turtles were huge and he could have got cool points for being named like Raphael with the red mask but instead he got a whole class of kids and his teacher telling him the whole time his name is wrong.

Just made his folks look like pure idiots.

My neighbours had a kid called Noami. The mother's name was Naomi, they wanted to name the baby after her but changed it around a little to avoid confusion.

I'm sure it created a hell of a lot more confusion throughout her childhood when everyone assumed her name was Naomi but that she was spelling/pronouncing it wrong!

That pronounciation of Raphael used to more common than the original Italian one in Ireland. There's an estate and St John of Gods home in Celbridge call St Raphael's, no one here pronounces it Raf-I-El. Paul kimmage's younger brother is called Raphael, when I was a kid I though his name was Rayfield.

In one of the rubberized warehouses for kids at the weekend and a little boy wouldn't let my little girl play with a certain toy

Dalton was told to share but he was a little young to understand so his brother Quinlan was sent in to explain

    Jesus wept

Met Enya* on a flight back to Dublin last week.

    * not that Enya, rather a three-year-old girl.

I once worked for a reasonably well known alarm monitoring company & some of the names on the database would have us in knots laughing, 'Dick Overy' being one of the more memorable. And he insisted on being addressed as Dick, not Richard.
