Been a while if ever since there's been 5 world class managers in the PL, going to get very competitive

Will be interesting to see how long it takes Klopp to implement his philosophy considering Van Gaal seems to still be doing so, if he hits the ground running there will be a few eyebrows raised

5 world class managers? who would you class as world class in premier league? I would have said there are probably only 5 world class managers in the world full stop

So we're going to have a conversation about how you define a world class manager... this should be fun.

Alex Ferguson was world class. That's where the bar is at. Only Mourinho comes close in the premier league imo

So to be world class you have to be at the level of possibly the best British manager ever. Seems fair.

Well it is the term world class for a reason. Not ludicrous to expect the selection criteria to be a little strict?

just curious to know who he thinks is world class.

    Pep Guardiola
    Jose Mourinho
    Carlo Anchelotti
    Ottmar Hitzfeld Retired
    Alex Ferguson Retired
    Marcello Lippi Retired

I just added the bottom 3 as they are recently retired

All the above are world class.

Thats some man management right there.

    Very petty indeed.

LVG really does come across very poorly at times.

That kind of logic would mean Ronaldo and Messi are the only world class players, is that your take on it?

You're entitled to that definition but it should be consistent

Wonder what players will snub us at some stage due to lvg being like that.

Valdes does not deserve that treatment

Actually wait a second, wasn't it bangkok saying yesterday that Steve McClaren had managed on the highest level? But to be world class you have to be at Fergie's level? No contradiction there

    Why petty?

He is not part of the squad so why would he be training with the squad, he is still being allowed train and the club are honouring his contract. People trying to be up in arms about nothing really.... did get a chuckle from this part
left them with a clear impression that the Dutchman can be every bit as uncompromising as Sir Alex Ferguson when he falls out with members of his squad.

premier league and champions league is highest level yes, but of course you don't need to be world class to manage in it.

Yes Steve McLaren has managed at the highest level, managing England, it doesn't get much bigger than that, but he wasn't a world class manager, neither is Roy Hodgson

Did something similar with Robert Enke at Barcelona IIRC. Basically forced him to play with the reserves and didn't speak to him after a loss in the cup.

There are 78 teams in the top 4 leagues (England, Spain, Germany & France). If you add in the top ten international team managers and perhaps a few managers on sabbatical (Ancelotti, big Sam and Rogers - yes I know I know but he was LMA manager of the year 18 months ago so technically qualifies) you have about 100 elite managers in the world. Out of that maybe the top 10 should be defined as "World Class". That Doesn't mean they are the greatest ever or up there with Ferguson or Shankly because none of them have hit those heights but you can only be World Class relative to all others currently in the class hence the cream of the current crop have to be defined as being the current "World Class" managers.

Top 10 for me (in no particular order) would be:-

    1. Guardiola
    2. Enqique
    3. Benitez
    4. Klopp
    5. Ancelotti
    6. Mourinho
    7. LVG
    8. Wegner
    9. Simeone
    10. Löw

Always interesting to see Conte rarely features in peoples lists of top managers working at present.

Would Prob have Del Bosque instead of Benitez myself but cant fault the rest

We don't know whats going on behind the scenes with VV & LVG. VV could be a bad apple, complaining and slating LVG to players. VV should get himself another club in January. Its best for everyone.

should he be in the running for the next United manager?

Why is it when Giggs is discussed as a future utd manager people here come up with a random name and ask should that person be considered as the next manager? The question isnt SHOULD Mike phelan, Brian kidd or whoever be considered, it's do you really think any of them WILL be considered for the position? If thrre is no intention of them becoming manager why bother asking should they be considered? Do you think utd SHOULD consider buying messi? It doesn't matter really because it's not going to happen

    A random name?

I'm not sure you read the post, or any of the others that have already addressed your issue.

You have gone on to a different tangent with this one anyway so probably best to leave it at that is it?

I stand by my original comment, your original statement that I responded to was quite a leap. Quite a big one.

Tell me, in any job, how many positions are you 'leaping over' if you go from assistant manager to manager?

    extremely petty.

LVG really does come across very poorly at times.

I doubt he really cares about how he comes across to people who don't know the full story.
I'm sure he stands by his reasons.
Bit of a sensationalist non story.

Im sure players signing for the club will care though or should i say players who the club wants to sign.

LVG while he appeals i am sure to many players, wouldnt exactly be the top of the list for several players after the Valdes incident no matter who is right or wrong.

Nope, that's not what I said nor what you said and I refuse to be dragged off into a different tangent with you.

SAF could be fearsome, but did he ever freeze out a player like this? Keane was effectively sacked when their relationship broke down but he knew it was coming... Stam was sold...
