yh an evo would be nice,i remember the impreza they had on it but I was disappointed with it to be honest,i can think of loads of cars that would be good to have on the show but some of those would only be targeted at specific people otherwisae they will be difficult to sell, look at the problems they had shifting the Renault Alpine for example,i wonder what they could do with a Honda civic from the 87-02 generations! :D

Yehh i think the impreza was done too tacky, i love the 80s and 90s cars stuff like the 5turbo and few rally models be nice.

I loved the integrale they did. Very retro.

    Old out yer and.

At this stage I have to fastforward the Mike Brewer parts they're just too annoying! The Ed China sections are very good though

Any other shows out there like Wheeler Dealers or other car shows worth watching? I used to like American Chopper (bikes obviously) but found it too much about the drama between Senior and everyone. I don't really like Jeremy Clarkson so I don't watch Top Gear.

Just interested in other car shows that I might not have seen. Only discovered Wheeler Dealers about a year ago!

Car SOS has a similar vibe. Not perfect either but I like it.

They are loads of different variety,

CAR SOS is a british based show about two guys fixing cars up for people as a surprise.

AMERICAN HOTROD is similar to american chopper but not made any more due to the owners death but was a very good show.

FOR THE LOVE OF CARS is another brittish based show about car restoration.

FAST AND LOUD is an american car restoration show.

They are some of my favorite but they are tons more.

Edit: overhaulin is anoter american show its a bit cringey at times but nice american cars.

Overhaulin chronicles - chip foose designing and building cars for the deserving/hard up.

Inside West coast customs - American rich customising there cars with weird bunch doing work. Cars/ideas are great, show kinda sucks though.

Chasing classic cars - well known American car dealer chasing down er classic cars.

Wheeler dealer trading up - just brewer selling cars, no Ed China.

Car restoration - Canadian car restoration shop, some good cars and relatively normal for North America

Anyone know where the show "The Garage" with that annoying git jock disappeared to. Great show. Very informative on the greasy work being carried out much like wheeler dealer. Have to press the mute button when your man jock comes on though!

Jay Lenos Garage is worth watching on youtube. Usually features 20 mins on a car and is really detailed with none of the top gear stupidity.

Tony Hirst. Hate that guy's voice

Car hoarders (?) on discovery is another, chuck palumbo (ex wwe wrestler) and a car bloke called Rick Dore is another half decent show.

Some of the customers are plain nuts and ridiculous amount of cars n parts sitting around.

Chrome underground is another show, started ok then some security ex army bloke started helping them and he was acting like he was in a action movie and was terrible at it. Funny terrible.

He manages to be entertaining to watch by being genuine, interesting, and not having to satisfy a mass-market made up of fat bastards whose mental sparkplug fires a little bit too far after top dead centre.

I loved when he effed and blinded around the shop..:D

Yeah, thats him, and he was also Eileen's bit of rough fireman in corrie too.

    Tony Hirst/hurst?

I wish it was still on.:(

Watch the original American broadcasts online. Its actually a bit odd watching an episode of something like Mythbusters without Hirst doing the voiceover :-)

Anyone watch this?? Edd China is gifted, my opinions of Mike Brewer are very negative though

in fairness you need him to break up the show. Although ed china on his own doing demonstrations of car maintenance tutorials would be great viewing.
But he isn't a mechanic, there's a mechanic on set to show him what to do. He's a good talker, they had a mechanic before him but he wasn't great at the talking ;)

Watched Jay Leno's garage, surprised how good it was. Didn't realise Leno knew so much about cars.

He said on twitter recently that he has a degree in engineering design so I imagine he knows a fair bit. Mechanic probably there for consultation and probably to cover their arse in case anything happens after they sell a car.

i.e they can say the work was overseen by a competent person.

To be fair, I have a mechanical engineering degree and you would have to pay me an awful lot of money to let some of my college classmates near my car. It's really not related at all!

And bikes and steam engines... compulsive Monday evening watching.

    I don't mind Mike Brewer, he's entertaining.
I thought he was going to blow his top when Ed cracked that Messerschmitt top, but not a bother on him, of course its all scripted anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,920 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

I really don't think they scripted cracking something worth almost £1,000. If Ed was smart, he would have drilled holes along the cut line to stop the cracks going further. With the right drill bit, it would have made a proper hole without risking cracking while drilling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭pippip

I think he ment the reaction was scripted, not the £1000 into a skip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 636 ✭✭✭canhefixit

Ah love Wheeler Dealers esp the bits were Ed does his thing, a show with him on his own would be good as would cut out all that crap Brewer talks and ya just get to see the best bits!
