network problems on amiko alien 2

    Hey lads im need of some help here, i finally got my alien 2, but im having trouble with my network, it worked on first plug in but after i turned it off an d back on nothing on chanells, when i do a network test on the amiko everything cleared but not the ip, im not very good with networking but there seems to be a confict with my router, i have it directly connected via ethernet, i read something about static ip, and opening a port for the amiko, can anyone confirm if this is what i have to do, with no tv working the wife is on my back,
    So please any help here would be greatly appreciated!
