Now is the time to get rid of him so? I wonder if Rodgers will stick with 3-5-2 now that Sturridge is back. You can imagine there will be no place for Firmino in the starting eleven if he does.

If you've the flexibility to sit tight and see if it's the way forward, fine. If you've other players out in your defence then you should replace because he is far from solid in the Liverpool team.

He's been dropped. Liverpool changed their formation to three at the back with two wingbacks then.

It's not certain that he's been dropped. He played the last number of games including most recently away on Thursday evening in France. So he may just have been rested. Dropped would be very harsh as he's generally been excellent. My own hunch is he'll replace Can as part of the back 3. Can may take Lucas' place in midfield.

    – The best finish for any of these players was 61,276 (manager in 8th).

Wonder what the odds are now they've started on a flyer to stay in top 10k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,810 ✭✭✭✭jimmii

Guy on top has played for 8 years and never got a top 300k yikes!

I would be surprised if any of them finished in the top 20k given their records and the lack of chips they have.

Is it likely that Costa will get banned and miss Newcastle?

They'll probably appeal and limp past the internationals

Yes, highly likely he'll accept and be banned for 3 matches (Walsall, Newcastle, Southampton)

    Looks likely.
Violent conduct charge is 3 games.
If they don't appeal it one of those games will be a Carling Cup tie,

Ah, fair enough. Newcastle might stand a 10% chance yet !

The lad who's leading the work league from my old job and has been captaining Kompany every week (defence value approx. 42m) has Pelle as his vice captain(26 points this week), there's no stopping them this year, Azpil also auto subbed in with another 7 points.:pac:
He's now on 300 points and his attack since week 1 is Wickham, Pelle and Cisse.

Too difficult to make a judgement on that after 1 and a bit games, but it's a fact that 75% is in no way, shape or form sustainable. If he's hitting near 35% by seasons end (presuming he clocks up first choice minutes) he'll have had a fantastic season.

Average of 0.03% shot conversion for these "big hitters"!!

None if my rivals have Aguero or Sanchez - my last 2 captains and I'm really dipping with the points by having they big hitters!

Really need them to convert. I took the risk of Martial in or Gomis this week even with Gomis coming close himself

Casuals doing quite well this year and bandwagons working for sure

    Martial alone is 4/3 :pac:...

Out of interest, if you could buy "own goal" as a striker, how much would they have to cost before you'd consider it too expensive?

No appearance or bonus points or possible yellows/injuries etc, just every own goal scored by every team that GW?

Bear in mind that this season there have been 5 so far. Last year there were almost 30 and the two years before there were over 45 each year, so we're talking an average of 40 per year.

    9 million+ too expensive for 160pts?

It's a similar story in my league. The teams ahread of me would be close to the bottom most years. The lads ahead of me are playing 4-3-3 most weeks. One lad had Barry and Wanayama as midfielders.

But I'm not worried. No way do teams like that keep it up.

Just noticed Huth has dropped to 4.4, i really thought he would be a goal threat and Ranieri would have Leicester tight at the back.

Can anyone recommend any good options in this price range?

Choose Defender and put in a price in the drop downs.

As you can see I'm more of a "teach a man to fish ...." type person ;)

Nyom from Watford. Francis from Bournemouth. Goal king Marshall at Norwich.

I don't rate him. Swansea supporter here in work doesn't rate him either. He has good stats but I do think he'll be found out sooner rather than later. Even Danny Graham could score goals for Swansea for a while. They play a good style of football and have some decent creative players.

The French league is the fifth best in Europe iroced and my opinion, with no offence meant, is that the best players tend to come to the PL for a reason!

I don't rate him as a great striker. But he's far from a poor striker. That was my point.
I agree with you about the French league level, but if you seek in details you won't find many players with Gomis stats in the French league. And he didn't get all of them only with Lyon (where you could say he had a good team to support him). He also did it with Saint-Etienne. He played for 6 consecutive years either C1 or C3 so he got experience from top level too.

I haven't seen him a lot with Swansea but I'd like to think they should both suit eachother quite well. He's a decent striker for a mid-table club. I remain to be convinced he's very far from Bony for example. For what I remember with Lyon, he's a good player who create opportunities but is wasteful in front of goals and would not have a great conversion ratio. But I still think he can get to 15 goals if he plays the whole season as a starter.

Now. FPL-wise. I think he's a bit overpriced. He'd be perfect at £6.5m. But with many big hitters failing at the moment, he's a very decent mid-priced option to have. All that said, I did sell him for Martial this week. Ther's the price rise thing. And purely FPL-wise, Gomis wastefulness is costing him BPs.

Something I noticed in one of my leagues over the weekend was that if you play All Out Attack and one of your front 8 doesn't play, you still get defender autosub. I was under the notion you're stuck in 2-5-3 formation, but you just lose chip. Could be useful for anyone that might want to use it GW38

I just couldn't have in my team because his celebration is so annoying, I'd agree with much of your post iroced, 15 goals certainly isn't beyond him but his price would reflect that.

edit: just read the other thread, seems like I'm not the only one with an opinion:p

The best value in the Watford team, looking at the prices, is Ighalo at 5m. As a cheap third striker, he is a great option. He was on fire in the second half of the season and scored around 20 goals from Christmas onwards, which was when you could see he had settled in!

They played their first pre season game last night against a non league team, winning 4-0, with Ighalo scoring twice in the first half. They played a 4-2-3-1 formation, so could be moving away from 3-5-2, which will be disappointing.

This was a really good pre-season shout.
    Thanks mate.
