Text and email from Russia

I have a motorcycle advertised on Adverts.ie and added “no texts” to the bottom. Recently I received a text from “Ann Williams” stating that she wanted to buy and could I contact her at a Gmail address. When I tried to text it would not go through. I did email and it turned out that “Ann” was in Russia and wanted to use Paypal and arrange collection. At that point I stopped replying. Since then I received another from the same address with the name Stephen.

I was wondering how the scam works as I thought that Paypal was safe or do they loge a claim against you later?.

pretty much! Paypal is weighted towards the buyer and they know all the tricks. Report the seller and scam so adverts can ban them.

Thanks for that, I doubt if there is much point in the seller, that's me..!! :)and at the rate they seem to change names it's doubtful if they could ever be traced.

Moved to Online Buying & Auctions, as this is not specific to Adverts.ie Support

That's your nigerian prince contacting you!:-) Don't fall for it, it's a SCAM! Because you've sent them your email address you'll be getting spams on more occasion as it'll be passed on third parties.
