It wasn't McEnroe who asked for him to be replaced as Kyrgios played the event (He was McEnroe's doubles partner). It's rumoured Nadal pulled out of the doubles because he heard Kyrgios was playing which adds up as he ended up playing Hewitt in a singles match instead.

    Bloody twitter, gets everything wrong.

On the wta side my predictions would be:
    AO: Wozniacki
    FO: Halep or Ivanovic
W: I'm expecting a surprise winner here, like Kerber or radwanska but wouldn't rule out Kvitova or Halep.
UO:Between Wozniacki,Williams and Azarenka if she is back to full fitness.

On the Atp side I see Stan retaining the title in Melbourne and Djokovic winning the rest of the grand slams this year.😄

Said I'd search for my predictions from the start of the year before the U.S open gets underway. Pretty accurate on the men's side so far but what a disaster on the ladies.

Moving away from the US Open, it's Davis Cup time again, very much an afterthought.

It's no surprise that Australia have replaced Kyrgios with Tomic so more unpredictability (at a minimum) is in store. The Australian team has lots of potential although you wonder whether it will all come crashing down once Hewitt retires. I'd favour Britain to progress although it's been a long summer for Andy Murray - whether he can play all three matches remains to be seen.

It's actually quite surprising given Tomic was supposed to be on strike from Davis Cup and Tennis Australia. Best shot Australia have had for quite some time and it's probably going to be derailed by all these shenanigans.

Was aware of that and a lot of the Tomic family issues but was thinking more that it's very hard to leave out another guy high in the rankings after Kyrgios was dropped. What chance would they have with Kokkinakis and Groth as singles options?

Yeah, I just think it's funny they were hanging Tomic out to dry before the Kyrgios thing happened. Between a rock and a hard place.

Given that it would be Belgium or Argentina in the final I think it's the pragmatic decision. I still can't believe Belgium are in the semifinal - they got some luck with the draw and absent players but it is a surprise.

I can start looking forward to the BNP Paribas Masters now in November. Tickets booked for the last 3 days, I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe try Wimbledon next year for a day.

Yes. It's in Glasgow. They wanted to play it in Manchester but Florence & the Machine had the arena booked that night :D

Now that they are leaving a week's gap between Bercy and the World Tour Finals it is much better.

Always felt it was too difficult to get tickets to Wimbledon with ballots when you consider that you can freely buy tickets to the other majors.

The whole Wimbledon ticketing system is ridiculous. The queue is worse than the ballot though. Why they can't just have the same systems the other slams have, I don't know.

Great, Glasgow should be a good atmosphere for Murray, indoor should suit as well.

Hewitt will be up for it .

I wonder if there'll be many Australians at it. There's bound to be a few around for the rugby, they might make their way up to Glasgow for a bit of tennis.

As with many things at Wimbledon, it's the tradition. Also, I have a real soft spot for the queue. When you're getting up at 4:30 in the morning to get there for 5:30, it seems like the worst thing in the world but it definitely has its charms and I think it's a good system which allows fans to get into the grounds for a very good price.

Naturally they are entitled to organise their tournament as they wish but I prefer being able to buy your tickets in advance on a first come first served basis as most tournaments do so that it is possible to plan in advance. The last thing I want to do when I visit London is get into an early morning queue for tickets. I appreciate some people like the tradition but it means I wouldn't consider going to Wimbledon at present.

Obviously lots of people don't mind doing it or they'd have stopped it but yeah, I would try for the ballot and if I've no luck there then I'm not going. Each to their own, I suppose.

I love the queue! I was at Wimbledon for the whole 2 weeks in 2010 and queued every morning. Really enjoyable and I thought I wouldn't like it because I went on my own. It rained one morning, think it was the second Tuesday, so there wasn't as many there. Win for me because I got Court 1 tickets then!:D Camped overnight the following year. It's not for everyone though, like the older fans or families with young kids.

I think their Ticketmaster thing is the closest they have to a first-come, first-serve system. Handy for people that are a short distance away.

Can't see them changing their ways anytime soon.

I see Britain have picked Dan Evans for their second singles position - they are really pinning their hopes on Andy Murray in singles and doubles.

Who is Andy playing doubles with ? - his brother ?

are dead rubbers in Davis Cup best of 3 sets ? or did I see somewhere now they aren't even played ?

He's not scheduled to play doubles. Jamie is out with Dominic Inglot but that could change. DC is best of 5 but I think dead matches might be 3. Think I seen one or two of them during this year's tournament.

Great, couldn't imagine the BBC not showing Wimbledon ... Sky Sports would ruin it ... all the adds...

Wimbledon on any other channel would be weird. Thank God BBC will keep it. I'm still annoyed they lost the British Open.

Gotta go with Britain for the final now , murray should win his singles tomorrow

My god , can you imagine if Britain win it , we'll never here the end of it

Maybe England will win the World Cup and overshadow them.

Away to belgium who are spearheaded by the excellent Goffin.

Same story as usual for Murray, he will probably need to win his 2 single matches and dbls with his brother for the UK to get it done.

Exactly, the competition is flawed, there should be more variation in players - singles guys excluded from doubles maybe >?
