It will be interesting to see if the current state of things will effect Rodgers' schedule for Sturridge. He really is the last role of the dice that Rodgers can make.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3232996/Luis-Suarez-told-look-Philippe-Coutinho-left-Liverpool-reveals-Steven-Gerrard.html
Before Luis Suarez left Liverpool’s training ground for the last time he spoke to me about Philippe Coutinho. ‘Make sure you look after him,’ Luis said of Philippe.
That told me how much Suarez rated Coutinho as a player. I knew they were close, because all the South Americans and Spaniards loved Luis.
But it struck a chord with me when Luis singled out Philippe as our most special young talent. It echoed my own view.

Philippe is wonderfully gifted and I expect him to become Liverpool’s leading player.
Many Liverpool fans already regard him as our main man.
He has just signed a new deal and he and his wife — who are a lovely couple — seem settled here.
But I also know that the Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid, will come looking for Philippe in a few more seasons, just like they did with Luis.
And that’s when it will get tricky for Liverpool because the lure to go to one of those two clubs is so strong for any South American or Spanish player.
Until that happens, Liverpool should really treasure Philippe.

would agree with this . Coutinho is our best player & unfortunetly I see him replacing Iniesta at Barca in a few years unless we get top 4.

The team should be built around Couthino, get players in front of him making runs and have him deeper than the traditional no. 10. He is the one player we have that can pick the ball up in the centre of the pitch and go past a couple of players instead of hitting it back to the defenders.

Are you blind? There's a lot more to it than a 2 game loosing streak. He should of went after that Stoke defeat.

His determination to have Lovren in before Sakho is a sin.

Lovern was not the reason we lost, he actually played well, the reason we lost is we had no idea of what we were supposed to be doing.
I was a massive fan of Rodgers till that Stoke defeat, it was obvious that he had lost the players then, it's more obvious now , we need to change the manager.
I'm not convinced that klopp is the answer however, but we do need to change.

Once the players stop playing for the manager, well there is only one outcome.

Brendan gave us one heck of a ride two seasons ago, wether that was down to his doing or players who have left, is debatable, but he /they almost won us the league, we really should have....anyways that in the past,
But that magic is gone....it won't come back under Brendan ....
we now look clueless, sure the new players might settle and start to produce some kinda form, but as someone once said 'form is temporary, class is permanent '
And we are a million miles away from being class..
Brendan thank you for your efforts, but it really is time for change.....and it has to come soon, very soon.
    Ynwa

Klopp taking the Dutch job rumour seems to be gathering legs. Time for a muffin basket. Stuffed with millions of euros.

Why would Kloppy want a part time job with the Dutch? Hardly strikes me as his thing at this point. What's more they are worse than Liverpool right now! (just)

Neatherlands manager is only in place for two games, and it looks like they're missing out on the Euros.

He'd be better off just waiting till next summer if he wants a National job.

I hope the rumour persists, creating a perceived 'ship sailing away' situation. And that it's on the back page of the Boston Globe tomorrow. Ok that's a bit much to ask.

There is an absolute reek of bullsh*t coming from this.

The Dutch side are in awful form, will miss out on Euro2016 barring a miracle and the fact that Klopp is German born and bred means he would be slaughtered in Germany for taking the Dutch job, especially when the German job could well be available next year.

Of all the jobs he could be linked with, this is the maddest one.

Clearly he will do anything to avoid Anfield.

I can't see Klopp tolerating the transfer committee, and FSG won't abandon it, at least not yet.

He worked with one at Dortmund.

Didn't he have a similar setup at Mainz and Dortmund? He wants to work with a DoF anyway.

That might be the way ahead, scrap the TC and bring in a DoF, it's what FSG wanted originally.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,059 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Well the TC is basically moribund it seems to me, Rodgers got everyone he wanted this summer and a DoF isn't quite the same thing in my book - for a kick off the typical example in a Bundesliga club is the real boss. The manager is in fact the senior squad coach, he has far less input with regard to the vision thing. a good DoF is worth far more to a club than any coach.

It wasn't messy, but I can't see FSG being completely stubborn regarding the transfer committee's setup if Klopp is likely to come.

He had a 3 party committee, with Watzke, Zorc and himself, at Dortmund and it worked well most of the time, although there were some poor purchases aswell, like Immobile.

    'The Rodgers' for DOF.
