OsX clean install dual drive setup

I have a late 08 aluminium MacBook which I upgraded a few years ago with an SSD as the boot drive and a HDD in the optical drive bay, which has worked great. I recently replaced the wireless card and I'm planning to reinstall osx afresh to clean it up. It's now used mainly as a general family computer, so no need for a lot of the software that I had installed on it over the years.

When I originally setup the dual drive arrangement, I moved the home folder to the ssd, but now with DIY fusion drive setups possible, I'm trying to decide which option would be best, fusion drive setup or just moving the home folder as I have done previously. The fusion setup sounds better, except that drive failure would seem more likely and more catastrophic if it did happen. Is it worth the performance boost?

    Thx

yes definitely worth performance boost. why not spend a little on a new hard drive if you re worried about failiure? as said a 08 drive would be near the end of its life.

In went ahead with the fusion install and it's working great. V easy to setup - much easier than expected and the laptop is going great. Thx.
