Sheep Abbatoirs

I'm looking for sheep abbatoirs, mainly in the South East. I'd like to find one, if possible, that uses a captive bolt to stun them before slaughter.

I ask as the few sheep I do kill are all horned, and tend to become family pets before they do go.

Wexford. I send a few to Christy Byrne for our own use but the flock is getting bigger every year and I'll have more than I need next year.

I'm too sentimental but because of the horns it's nearly impossible to electrically stun them properly.

And why don't you want to use the stunning method ?

Its very difficult to stun the 4 horned animals with electric tongs, as opposed to a captive bolt which will drop them there and then. Electric tongs are grand for polled sheep but would only make a botch job of killing heavily horned Jacob rams.

I've only a few sheep and was hoping I could give them as humane a death as possible. Which abbatoir was it that uses a captive bolt?
