I'm sold. At that price to get to listsen to Russo chat about some of the biggest points wrestling history? I know a lot of people hate him, but I can listen to Russo talk all day.

Yeah, it's pretty good value considering how much some of these things can cost. I'd love to go but I'm going to be working. I assume it will be on at the usual sort of show time, evening.

I bet he moves it to Cork and doesn't tell anyone, just to swerve us.

Do you have to pay for the professional photograph or can you just get one on your phone?

Very interested in this event. Russo is such a polarising figure in wrestling it would be cool to hear him talk about these events in person.

    Hey Hastag_HEEL

I'm sure you can take one on your phone but there will probably be a small charge.

I should know this but I will find out & get back to you as soon as possible with 100% confirmation!

Hi Ray. It's short notice for me, unfortunately. I would have liked to have gone along to see him. I had no idea that this was coming along. Do you know if there's going to be anything else happening while he's in the country or is it just this one appearance and then he's leaving again? I hope the event goes well for you. I never heard of your production company before, but let us know if you have any other events coming up of a similar nature. Oh and please try and bring The Iron Sheik if you can. I'll drive him around the place.

    Hey Stereomaniac,

I've run lots of gigs in Whelans before with lads from around the world & helped promote some wrestling shows throughout the years too.

I've never had a name or page to run under before & realised that needs to changed so I just launched the RNR Promotions page (for these & other events) & in the process of running/launching Country Music Ireland .ie too (for the music end of events).

Sorry for the short notice on this but was literally booked over the weekend & I'm not happy with 3 weeks notice to promote the event but it was this or nothing & I've wanted to do something like this for a while.

The plan is to do a Q&A like this every month or two if there's an audience for it, if I get the Iron Sheik over I now have you down as a driver! :)

If you get The Iron Sheik over, I will partner you in taking on the event, and I will do all of the running in terms of keeping the man on form. That's a dream of mine, but alas, he's probably too old now!

If this was done right and a monthly occurrence with relatively big names, I'd come every month. Be a fun night out and interesting to see who's speaking

Can't say I'm a huge fan of him but he's an interesting guy with plenty of years in wrestling, it's a handy location and a decent price, with the added benefit that if this is a success there'll be similar events in the future. Count me in.

Out of interest, whereabouts in Dublin is the Academy Plaza? I thought it was The Academy at first when I saw the post, the place on Middle Abbey Street that used to be Spirit.

Hi Ray, it's actually to prevent people doing what you're doing, signing up expressly to promote your own events, which is against our TOS. However I think our community would be interested in this event - next time ask a moderator first.
If you want a photo added to the OP, PM me, don't spam the board to get your post count up, I'll sort it for ya.
Best of luck with the event!

Did anyone have any idea that this was happening before this was posted here tonight? Plenty of things seem to have been happening lately that I just haven't seen any advertising for. I only realised the other day that Al Snow did an appearance at Wrestling Mania. I knew Too Cool were doing the OTT show but never knew they were at Comic Con too!

The poster says off of O'Connell St Upper so I'm guessing near the Ambassador.

This is the first I heard about it. Likewise with the Al Snow thing. I'd say Too Cool we're booked for the comic con before OTT but that's just a guess. Russo at an OTT show would be something else!

Vince Russo coming in to declare all championship reigns are now null and void and that they have to start from scratch again might not go over too well with the crowds at the OTT. I would have like to have met Al Snow & Too Cool but unfortunately I had to work then!

Im not giving that hack money, those who go can enjoy but the guy is exactly whats wrong with wrestling and refuses to go away.

    Hi Guys,

The Academy Plaza is just off O'Connell Street, if you're walking away from the Liffey on O'Connell Street with the cinema & The Gresham on your right its the turn off on the right after the Gresham Hotel (the building next door is under construction but it is just past that, It's also I think connected to the back of Fibbers!).

jaykhunter - absolutely understand that & I wasn't giving out I just wanted to try link as much details to my post as possible so you guys wouldn't think I'm a cowboy! Ageyev was good enough to post the poster so I wont be reposting just to bump up the thread!

This was literally just announced last night! Besides Wrestling Mania this was the 1st place to know about it, Facebook adverts have started going out last night & I am collecting posters today to start getting up around Dublin! I only got confirmation over the weekend & being honest I am not happy with 3 weeks worth of advertising but will plaster Dublin/online until the event! There's already a bit of a presale so I want to keep up the momentum!

As I was saying this will hopefully be the start of a monthly/bi-monthly event with different guests so will try announce everything going forward way in advance.

P.S - Hastag_HEEL havent forgotten you, I am just waiting to hear back about pictures on phones!

Will any of this event be recorded for publication afterwards? Raging I'm going to miss this now but I literally just agreed to work that night when I was talking to my boss last week. It would be cool if more personalities from wrestling came to Ireland and took part in events like this on a more regular basis. I know that it happens more often than it used to, but the more we get of these things over here the better, I say as we often miss out on things that might come to the U.K but not to Ireland. William Regal and Bret Hart are two examples that spring to mind in recent memory. I hope the sales are going well for you on this one anyway man, as I know that probably dictates when/if there'll be something like this again in the future. You ought to bring Vic Venom into Fibber's before he takes part in the event so that he might be more likely to shoot from the hip when he's up there. I'm not sure if the place is still as heavy metal as it used to be when I lived in Dublin but that would surely be, as Michael Cole would put it, Bizarreoworld.

There's a Guns N Roses tribute band playing in Fibbers in a few weeks Stereomaniac so I guess they're not as heavy metal as they used to be.

    Tickets are ON SALE NOW!!!

This intimate event is limited to 120 tickets and can be bought from the Academy Plaza Hotel's reception or by phoning the hotel on +35318780666.

You can also visit our friends in Wrestling Mania in Stephens Green Shopping Centre or by phoning them on +35314053525.

Stereomaniac as far as I know we can only maybe film snippets not the whole thing. The response so far has been great, there was a number of pre booked tickets already so if that keeps up they'll be more shows!

Hashtag_HEEL you can take pictures on your phone for €5 or get a professional one done up for €10!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

Cool, well be sure to post up whatever snippets you take of the event. I'm sure that might attract others to come if you organise other events similar to this one in the future!

vince russo for wwe hall of fame ???. i think he should get inducted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I don't know. I'd be more anxious to see Ivan Koloff go in at this stage, to make it more legitimate.

Ill argue with this until the cows came home..... or until Russo put them on a pole, which hes probably done already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Put his ring on a pole, seems fitting! For better and worse, he's one of the most famous names in wrestling, so he should be in the HOF (in my opinion)

Really? I think he gets far too much credit for the attitude era than he should. I feel hes done more damage to pro wrestling overall.

I don't think any of us were complaining at the time!
