Student-Cards - I do recall seeing a list showing certain days in a few weeks time for each Department to go get their Student Cards. Can ya go to the Office and get it any time or do ya have to wait until the Department Days that are listed?

Parking Permit - what do you do for first day / until you get Permit sorted etc....

Is there not a GMITers Chatty Thread no?!? :pac::(

Theres pay and display parking available or you can park responsibly down in Lurgan like many others.

Youre supposed to wait until the designated day to get your card so that there arent hoards queueing up.

The carpark is controlled by Apcoa. A permit system us in operation and costs about €10 for the year. You must apply online and puck up your disc on site in a couple of weeks time, Apcoa normally gives grace for parking while staff/students wait for permits. There is also a min. distance from college requirement I believe .... Dates for student cards are included in your registration letter, it has dates allocated per dept.

Thanks but was asking about before Permit is issued. Rang GMIT and Receptionist said once yer registered online your Car Reg. is covered until ya get yer Permit sorted.

Another question when are classes split for Optional Modules? Are you supposed to decide yourself ahead of time and record/enter it somewhere or what? Need to get told all these things so we do.

Youll be told when you start, why would you be told in advance, theyd then be bombarded by thousands of silly questions. Youll get to choose any of the non compulsory modules when you start, a list will go around of whos doing what.

That was the point I made above, there is a grace period of no clamping before permits start to issue ... This is explained on the GMIT website
