4 GW's down, how are people getting on? Can everyone post last year's final position and this year's current position, and any chips played to put my mind at ease (surely it can't be just me with an awful start).

    Last season: 49k
    This season: 2.1m
    Chips played: Wildcard

I wouldn't worry too much, you'll do well to get top 5k from your current position but beating last years position should be no problem if that's what you want to do, I had a miserable start last year and it was week 6 before I was in the top 1m but I finished well.

FWIW I really don't think its helpful to try to have a black and white rule on points hits.

Sometimes taking a short sighted hit will be bad for your team.

Sometimes not taking a hit to sort out issues will be even worse for your team.

That bloody week 3 wildcard is becoming a badge of honour around here, that week away in Wexford is looking like a terrible idea, at least the weather was good:P

I was actually going to write "wildcard played gw3 with all the cool kids" but I thought better of it! :D

If you're the same around Christmas, then you can really worry. But now OR means nothing. The only thing I noticed is when you manage to get a good start it's yours to blow it and fall behind (when I mean fall I mean like outside 50k or 100k). While when you start bad, the chasing game can be tougher & exhausting.

Last year I chased all season trying hard to reach my revised downwards aim (top 10k). Started 750k. Was 600k by GW5. Only managed to comfortably establish myself in top 100k by GW16. Reached ~20k by GW18. Stayed between 20 & 40k up to GW33 !!! My final push, notably using well the last DGWs, finally drove me into the "promised land". Got into top 10k by GW37!

    Last season: 9.1k
    This season: 130k
    Chips played: N/A
    Points hits: 3 ; -12 (3 x -4) (-> detail here)

Don't worry I waited for you, everyone else was just selfish :)

Not worrying yet, have a team I'm fairly happy with long term, just a lot of premium players underperforming which is frustrating.

Yes, go to Gameweek History underneath where your points and position are then you should be able to view previous seasons if you have always used the same account.

yea just look at game week history and will show your OR for every year you have played the game (assuming it's the same account)

I saw a poster stating they were using their wild card due to the face that they got off to such a bad start, when in reality they haven't - so i think the above is actually quite good, gives people perspective.

btw i'm not saying its wrong to have used the wC so early - just the reason given of "falling way behind" is not valid imo.

Each week, on paper, I seemed to have a good team, but nooooo..... I've revised my targets down to just winning my work league (currently 10/11. Won last year by nearly 200 points) but maybe I can revise upwards if I go on a run.

Don't forget that a bad rank at this stage is very probably going to be easier to claw back than usual.

Firstly we know that a significant portion of the top 500k or so are casual players benefitting from the statistically unusual scoring pattern (e.g. only 9 home wins in 40 games) and will almost certainly fall away. A much higher than usual % of the current top 500k will join the ranks of the zombies by new year.

Secondly the chips as we know are distorting it. People triple captaining yaya for big scores etc. Not only have 20.5% played their first wildcard already (including the cool people of gw3) but the following are the chips used figures according to FFS...

    Chips Used By Percentage

    Triple Captain – 14%

    Bench Boost – 7.8%

    All Out Attack – 5.2%

14% have blown the all important triple C. You'll finish ahead of almost every one of that 14% I'd wager.
