Wow that's an interesting discussion above. I am surely one of those who don't join a lot of matches and could then be on the chopping block.

The problem with clans now is the fragmentation of the gaming community with so many dlcs and game modes. When I first joined a clan we played bfbc2 rush 95% of the time and it was unreal. Now with 30 maps and 10+ game modes it is hard to please everyone.

Personally speaking I think rush is best suited for clans too because communication is relevant in that it is more effective and squad play can be great when attacking mcomms but it seems that no one plays rush. Also vanilla maps seem to be order of the day and I would prefer dlc maps at this stage.

Another problem is that a good squad can steamroll the opposition and while that is the point, it gets boring fairly quick. That's the problem with BF, a team game that is great as a team but not when the matches are steamrollers

You weren't on the list, don't worry, ha. I think I should have used the term NONactive instead of INactive, seems to have inadvertently caused some issues.

I love a good game of Rush alright but like you said, it can very easily turn into a steamroller. The new Team Balance improvement coming in the Summer Patch should help hopefully

From a neutral's point of view and from someone who runs one of more successful Xbox platoons, I can tell you that we regularly 'spring clean' inactive members. It's healthy for the platoon, in that there is always a steady flow of active players to play with. There's no hard feelings and everyone is asked in advance what their position is.

Sure, there will always be disagreements and we have lost some members through differences of opinions but that's the nature of the beast when you have 50+ members, not everyone is going to get along.

Jesus, I go to work for a few hours :eek:

    Couple of things just to clear the air;

1)Regarding 5 Leaders, instead of 6.....for the last few weeks I've been working 6 nights a week so haven't been on much. When I did get on I was told that Dermot had left the PS4 for the XBone. As such, I figured he had removed himself from PS4 activities.

2)For prespective, I know when and why the Platoon was started. Cobra couldn't do it cos he wasn't Premium and several people in fact offered to start one up. Paul happened to be the first to offer, he was on every day and always on mic so everyone was happy. If my memory serves me right, Dermot wasn't bothered by the idea of a Platoon at the time anyway.

3)My view on trimming the members is simple and it's almost as if the term 'inactive' is being misunderstood. We have lads who haven't played Battlefield in over 6/7/8/9 months! There is literally no reason to keep them on the roster except to boost our numbers. Only getting on once or twice a week isn't inactive, selling the game and not playing anymore is though. However, I did say that if the vote was passed, all members should still get a chance to make themselves heard. Should that be by a post on Boards, on Battlelog or PSN, they should still be informed before being removed.

4)Chris' Challenges......I honestly enjoy these challenges. If I don't like the thoughts of doing it, I don't do it. As much fun as this game is with friends, it can still get pretty boring running the same loadout every round. If you remove the stupid Commander ones, I've already completed 93 out of 103 Assignments anyway, I've Mastered 36 weapons ranging from Assault Rifles to Sniper Rifles to pistols....all while having fun, playing the game normally, PTFOing, keeping a SPM of over 700 and the second highest Squad Score in the whole Platoon behind KOB. So to suggest that these Challenges distract me from helping the team is a little over the top. Also worth noting that we actually started doing 'Missions' on Battleog over a year ago. They were limited to 5 players so very restrictive, which is what lead to Chris taking time out of his week to come up targets and track the individual stats of several members at once.

5)I will never encourage boosting nor be in any Platoon or Clan that engages in it. I like this Platoon and the players in it. I've been asked to join other platoons before but to be honest, I have fun here. The idea of a Platoon with Assault only head glitchers doesn't appeal to me. I struggle to think of a single night with IRL members were I've had to turn off the PS4 cos I'm in a bad mood. It's fun getting perma banned from Servers cos we're destroying the owners:D.

6)Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 5 Leaders I asked to vote were infact informed before my post. I was presumably the last to know as when I joined the chat on Sunday, I was told of the plans. Paul, Alan, Chris and Keith had already been online for a while so I imagine it came up before I joined.

Look, this was never supposed to turn into a civil war. The idea was simply to streamline the Platoon into those still actually playing the game. Sure we still have new guys joining, it would be handy if they didn't have to send 61 friend requests just to find someone online.

    1. You were told wrong, and assumed even worse.

    2. I wasn't bothered with the platoon? who made the emblem, filled out the descriptions amongst other things? I came directly from the PS3 IRL platoon when i upgraded the ps3 disc to the PS4 version. The only thing stopping us making the platoon then was premium and paul stepped up and owns it, or as you(s) like to say, it's the only reason i didn't remove yahs already :p

    3. So to trim inactive/nonactive members, irl should only have about, 10 members.

    4. oh jayus stop lol not enough room in the thread for your head.

    5. Battlefield should always be fun!

    6. I was the last one to find out, even the fact i wasn't invited to your little shindig chat about the subject, need i say more?

Thats correct, if you had a platoon that was active or at least 5+ members that were, you could get away with such actions, but when you barely have 2 active members on at the same time, that option just doesn't work, you would just end up liquidating the platoon/clan.

Lads, search ADHD into server browser. Usually they have all.maps in random.order on conquest. Sometimes they default to vanilla to fill server but then change to all maps.

    Unreal brill

Really don't want to get drawn into something resembling an awkwardly public divorce here but since the post was aimed at me, I'll reply.

1)Yes, I was told. By different members, several times, over a period of time. Then I checked Battlelog to see you hadn't played a round on the PS4 in over a month, your last 10 rounds were all on XBone and your active Soldier was also on XBone. Perhaps it was still an assumption on my part and I apologise, but it wasn't made based on gossip alone.

    2)

Personally i see no reason to even worry about platoons, they were on BF3 also and were not used and i doubt they will be used here either........

3)We will still have around 20 members, all of whom would be considered active. We've had 2 new guys join this week and I'm sure more will follow. As I already said, everyone on the list would be contacted before being removed. It may encourage them to come back to the game, it may not, but they will have a say.

4)Got nothing to do with ego. You said that Chris' Challenges and that our apparent fascination with Assignments was stopping us from helping the team. I was simply showing that despite trying to challenge ourselves, and unlock guns, and do Assignments, and keep a 2 year old game interesting, we seem to be doing pretty damn ok. I could have put up Chris' stats, Pauls stats or Keiths stats. They would regularly take part in the Challenges going back over the past year or so. All have above average SPM and win ratios of 60%......and those odds go up considerably when we get a Squad together. It's not uncommon to see several IRL members at the top of the Scoreboard round after round, our Ace Squad Ribbons prove that.

5)Of course it should be fun, but anyone who's played a few rounds solo knows that Battlefield can be incredibly frustrating at times. Sounds crazy, but doing well is fun to me. Challenging myself to use a crappy gun and still do well is fun to me. 5 IRL members dominating a server so much we all get banned.........really fun:D.

6)I wasn't invited either, I just happened to be playing Battlefield on my PS4 that night:p

For the sake of what's left of our public image here, can I suggest that we(everyone) use PMs to talk about this in future? Keep the thread itself for happier Battlefield related topics.....

Yeah, I've played on that server a few times as well. A nice mix of maps. I think I joined yourself and Paddybomb last night on the metro map but the numbers on the server had dwindled by that stage.

    Whats your PSN?

Yeah, that was my last game. The reason the server was so empty is because their team got hammered in Gulf of Oman and were spawn trapped. Metro 12 v 12 was good though, reminded me of PS3 days!

okram_13. Yeah, metro wasn't bad at 12v12, not the usual mess it normally is when the server is full.

BF4 summer patch should be dropping in 2-3 weeks.

Supposedly it'll be the last map added for previous Gen consoles due to limitations. This could mean that Siege of Shanghai (Night) and Dragon Valley will be added in the Autumn patch or sooner due to the removal of those limitations.

One thing I will hand to DICE regardless of my position on it. Fair play for supporting previous gen consoles for as long as they have. (Credit where it's due)

    BF4 Central details here

New Team balance features seems interesting and the vehcile balance is worth raising an eyebrow over. Hopefully they can fix the jets and re-hash the AA so it's better suited to shooting at jets/choppers rather than foot soldiers. (Paul ;))

DICE LA released screenshots of all the upcoming maps for BF4 for free. Including an unnamed map which is set in a jungle environment, looks to be a throw towards Laguna Presa a BFBC2 map which was awesome.

Click here for the Gallery link

They are NOT remaking Noshahr Canals but they will be remaking the Docks of Dragon Valley which will be used in TDM. So I'm guessing will be seeing " 24/7 Dragon Valley Only TDM 500% Shotgun/C4 = Kick/ban"

    From Twitter:
#BF4 #NightOperations is rolling out worldwide starting Sept 1. More details on availability: http://o.ea.com/42714

Except EU players have to wait until Sept 8 because that's fair for some ridiculous reason.

Also this is a gif of one of a very unlucky player.
(This gif is from an external site so if you're using your phone it may freak out before it loads properly)

    Post-Summer Patch Notes

Lots of people from the CTE are saying the Team Balancer works well and seems to work as intended unlike the previous system in place. So we might have a good bit of variety on the way.
