Nadal out. Novak and Murray both could/should have been out.

Dimitrov will have nightmares about that forehand return he shanked from a 83mph second serve on match point.
Murray should be out no question about it. Dimitrov played really well but when he was a double break up in the second and a break up in the 3rd he just folded, same on the match point he had at 5-4 against Murray's serve. Murray and Djockovic showing that difference between world class and great is winning even when they're nowhere near their best.

If Nole and Andy don't get sorted, Federer will win this tournament at a canter.

Do last nights results mean Murray will retain the number 2 spot for the U.S. open? He got to the QF at Cincinnati last year and fed won this tournament so he can only improve his point tally whereas fed can at best maintain his total?

I think the points from Cincinatti last year have already been deducted due to differences in schedules this year so all points gained this week will be added.

Federer started this week 600 points behind Murray so I think if Feferer wins and Murrray does not get to the final he can overtake him at no 2.

Some tasty QF matches. Looking forward to Stan-Nole later.

Who do you have for that? Neither at their best, Stan has to be zoned in to beat Djokovic so my money would be on the Serb, think his 75% better than stan's.

Have to go with Nole (more consistent and methodical) but if Stan finds form then he can win, and win the tournament. Stan on form is a top top player, capable of more slams. Love his play. Isn't this the only 1000 title that Nole has not won?

Wanting Murray to claim his 2nd 1000 title on the trot.

I didn't see either of the semi's , but on form its hard not to favour Federer tomorrow. He has won here multiple times and is playing very smoothly. There also must be something (gluten?) in the air here that has stopped Djokovic winning it up to now.

Federer's optimum conditions to beat Djokovic going forward are a fast hardcourt, coming in fresh, and with maybe a bit of wind swirling around.

I expect Djokovic to make it tight, but Federer should win this.

Agree here. And if Djokovic called a medic out yesterday during match means he might not be in top shape or risk going for it, and missing final big tournament

Great match from Fed tonight. Think between the top three, Wawrinka, Nishikori (my personal hope) we're set for a great USO. On a separate note, I'm hoping to go to one of the 1000 events for a day or two (Paris, Madrid, Rome.. whichever suits best with exams and travelling) and I was wondering if anyone on here has any experiences with getting tickets etc? Are they expensive/ do they sell out fast/ can you buy day passes or what?

Fed continues to somewhat surprise. I am actually getting fed up, pardon the pun, of him still being successful. I am a big fan. It would be pretty special if he won the U.S. Open. I wouldn't put him as favorite, but top 5 no doubt. Murray looks right peed off losing to Federer. Hasn't beaten him in 32 or so months. Lost the last 6 or 7. Anyone notice the very quick handshake and pull away from Andy on Saturday?

    Who writes this crap ?

he beat him on a tiebreak and one break of serve ..... that's crushing now ???

Draw obviously can change things, but I'd only be confident of Noval beating him at the US Open. Stan? 50-50 I suppose.

He has Murray in his pocket.

    Who else should worry him?

I know the bookies have Murray 2nd fav which is a load of bollocks, its Federer it should be.

Federer had deuce on so many of Novak's service games in the match while cruising through the majority of his own. Could have easily won 6-2 6-1 or something similar.

Federer was all over him. Similar to Shanghai last year, only won 6-4 6-4 but for all intents and purposes Federer was miles better that day.

I went to the Madrid Open earlier this year. We went the Monday day/night session, Tuesday day/night session and Wednesday day session all for 140 euro! All our tickets were category 1 tickets so it is possible to get them even cheaper as there are 3 categories! Your seats are only reserved for centre court so for all other courts it's very easy to get a great spot! It's also incredibly easy to meet players as I managed to get Nadal, Murray, Halep and Muguruza to sign my ticket which I was ecstatic with!
They were the earlier days of the tournament though and it was noticeably a bit busier by the Wednesday! I think the tickets for the finals were about 140 euro themselves so considering we got three decent days of tennis for that I would choose to go the earlier days again next year!

He hardly has him in his pocket. A very tired Murray still didn't fold against Federer in the semis. With over a week off you'd expect Murray to cruise through to at least the quarters. Murray can beat anyone on hard courts, that's the reason he is the second favourite behind Nole.

Novak hadn't a single break point on Roger's serve. Roger had eight on Novak's serve. And the tiebreak was 7-1 to Fed. I only watched from the tail end of the first set, but Fed was imperious, so yes, a crushing defeat for Novak!

If Federer plays this well he could easily sail through the first 3/4/5 rounds like at Wimbledon and arrive in a semi very fresh. Only people who can beat him in his current form imo are Stan ( if he is injury free and gets on one of his once a year rolls - but he had that this year already) and Djokovic (who looked out of sorts and mentally not fully there for the past two weeks).

Still, if Djokovic gets his head (and his serve) together I would find it very hard to bet against him in a best of 5 against Federer or anyone else.

Agreed. Stan and Nole on form I feel will beat Federer.

It's gonna be a strange US Open I think.

Novak - Bookies favourite but he is not 100%, he had problems with his ribs in the SF match against Dolgopolov.
He has lost 2 masters final in the last 2 weeks against the next 2 best players on the tour - thats gotta hurt. At least before Wimbledon he was cruising in the Masters.

Federer - yeah he is surprising everyone and playing really well .. but again best of 3 - 5 round masters events.
Can't see him winning best of 5 - 7 round event - unless he meets Murray in the final ;) .

Murray - has the potential for sure, but I think Federer will beat him ..
ironically tho I can see him beat Djokovic if they meet.

Wavrinka He's not arsed, after winning the FO he has gone on holidays a little mentally, just like after winning the AO 2014.

This could be a new GS champion in the making here ...

    Kei Nishikori anyone ?

Wawrinka only has 3 wins against federer, and federer is currently playing his best tennis in a good few years.... I'd back federer to beat wawrinka if they meet at the U.S. OPEN.

Actually all 3 wins came on clay to boot....

Despite fed hammering Murray lately I'd have more faith in Murray pulling off a win than wawrinka.

    Wawrinka for me is flaky.

He has three wins, but he has had several near wins. On form his style is very competitive against Roger. I think if he finds some form, like in RG, then he can beat Roger, and beat him decisively, as in in straight sets.

Murray is due a win vs. Fed. I think the last defeat was as much about Murray being jaded and a little uninterested. Focused and fit at a major and Murray can well beat Roger on hard courts.

Anyone see the Nike Street Tennis photos from NYC? Everyone seemed to be commenting on the space between Grigor, Serena and Maria.:pac: I'd love to have been behind scenes to see how Kyrgios got on.

Surprising they didn't have Azarenka at it. Keys is not well known, Bouchard is having a stinker of a year, as is Dimitrov, and Kyrgios has had nothing but bad press for months. Meanwhile, former World #1, 2 time GS champion is nowhere to be seen.

Donna Vekic not impressed with the ban & fine handed down to Kyrgios. Actually I wouldn't call it a ban...all he has to do is keep his mouth shut and he avoids it.

She'll really not be happy with the Indo spelling her name wrong in the article headline & supporting tweet. I don't get why it's misspelt in the headline but right in the opening paragraph.

She is right to be unhappy with the Kyrgios "punishment". It is basically nothing.

Tennis doesn't have the balls to tackle anything to be fair. Rude behaviour from a repeat offender like Kyrigos, time wasting, match fixing etc .

    Still watch though.:o

John McEnroe was having some sort of charity exhibition thing the other night and Kyrgios was supposed to play. Hewitt replaced him last minute. Two rumours doing the rounds, 1 - McEnore asked for him to be replaced 2 - Nadal, who was also playing, said he didn't want to play with him.

It doesn't really matter what the ATP do at this stage, if he gets frozen out by these other guys he may learn a lesson quicker than if he was banned.

It shouldn't come down to the other players. I do hope that was the reason why he wasn't invited to the McEnroe event because of Nadal. It would have been nice if the other players involved the Nike street tennis event would have done the same. I feel sorry that poor girl that he was leaning on in one of the pictures. :(

It quite often does come down to the players though. Look at doping in swimming and athletics. Athletes are the ones who speak out and shun the dopers when the organisations are the ones who allow them back into competition over and over.
Obviously Kyrgios' behaviour is not on the same level as doping but you end up with the same result. Organisation does bare minimum and the players are left to actually take action.

It wasn't McEnroe who asked for him to be replaced as Kyrgios played the event (He was McEnroe's doubles partner). It's rumoured Nadal pulled out of the doubles because he heard Kyrgios was playing which adds up as he ended up playing Hewitt in a singles match instead.
