No Detailing, just a regular wash (2BM) with plain water and dried with crazy towel :)

Went at this today. Washed, detarred, and polished. All the glass was cleaned inside and out (which is a fcukload of glass).

Inside the seats were vacuumed and the floor cleaned. Anyone that knows the inside of these, the floor is awful hard to clean, little raised circles - the crevaces hold the dirt. Got down with a brush and scrubbed the full floor, in around the seats etc.

Finally wiped the dash area and door cards.

This is my only pic. I forgot to take more, wasn't able tbh, my arms were falling off ha.
Doesn't look amazing or anything, there are quite a lot of rust spots above the front windscreen and the wheels are gone awful bad with rust. Apart from that it's in tip top shape for a 2008 with 190k miles - I think it's around that.

Most Ford wheels always go bad, the ones on my mondeo are in bits and have this dried in white stain that I can't get rid of.

My job was 'mini' in comparison to that bus!

The OH's MINI hadn't been cleaned in many many months. It's being in and out of garages all this year trying to sort a reoccurring issue. With that hopefully now sorted it deserved a good bath, as always I forgot to take before pics. It was bad enough for family members to write "clean me" on it!
So I washed it, detarred it, washed it again, once over with 50cal cover up and sealed again with natty's paste wax.

Treated the trim with new look gel, may invest in c4 though as the arches fade quickly.

Not the greatest pics as I was to lazy to move it off the driveway. The wheels were caked in brake dust, took me 3 times going over to get it to where there are and they still aren't perfect! May break out the steam cleaner.

Hit them with Korrosol first which is what you see in the 4th picture's reaction and then gave them a good going with AutoGlym's custom wheels with their detailing brushes.

Wash before the Korrosol/Ironx. It works better.

Guys whats the difference between using the Korrosol & Auto Wheel?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 853 ✭✭✭edburg

Korrosol is a stronger product designed for iron fall out that's embedded to bodywork.

Auto wheel designed to attack wheels with brake dust, similar to Korrosol but not as strong.

I would say that Korrosol would be that big clean product you may use 2/3 times a year.

Auto wheel be the every week job on wheels, if used regularly it should reduce the need for Korrosol for the home/diy detailer.

What do you think of Maguire Ultimate Detailer ?

Is Korrosol widely available? I have particles embedded in some paintwork from when I drove on sticking/worn brake pads :o

Great detailer spray but paint gets static after use leaving the clean surface like a magnet to fine dust. OAC perfection does not have this problem.

Did some interior cleaning today. Cleaned windows with AG fast glass. Hoovered floors and mats. Managed to scrape off all the dog hair or most of it with the glove method and hoovered that up. Dusted the dash and then used 50cal precision interior dressing. Cleaned the not so dirty leather with a damp microfiber cloth and then used the Gtechniq leather guard. Seats already look better than they did and are smoother too.
Finished off with a spray of CG pina colada air freshener spray.

In two minds whether I'll be able to get the exterior done before the rain starts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,921 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

If you're gonna do the exterior, do it with an LSP that can be applied when the car is wet. That way it doesn't matter if it rains at that stage :)

Probably the last one of the Summer.

A 2002 corolla, current owner bought it late last year (previously had one owner since new) and so I was very doubtfull if it ever seen any paintwork enhancement. Anyway gave it a wash, detar, polish and treated the plastics and tyres. Inside seen a quick hoover and dashboard shine.

    A quick before

    VQ065bH.jpg

And 2 afters, brought the paintwork up really well, despite the fact it was a very quick job.
