Any idea what the best route for getting tickets for the Soton game in October might be, the uncle is hoping to head over for his sons 16th birthday, i was assuming the travel agent type deals but they were hoping to go a day early, fly etc. Thanks for any ideas.

The list of suitors for Lucas would be long with interesting options. He would attract some big name clubs. Maybe even end up being Real Madrids Mascherano.
Rodgers seems incapable of managaing an actual full squad of players. All he wants is 11, the rest can go to hell.

I'm sorry but this is nonsense. If Madrid were even the slightest bit interested, Lucas would be long gone. Even Rafa realises Lucas's best days are probably behind him (sadly). If he were to go to Real, it'd be as bench fodder and no way as a key member of the starting 11 and utility player a la Mascherano.

What's with the 'blame Rodgers for everything' crap that goes on here?? What evidence have you for the assertion that he can't manage a squad of players? Kolo, for example seems quite happy with his role as backup and seems to be a positive influence. How are you in a position to distinguish between Rodgers capability to manage a squad and the reaction of a player to not being first choice?

I'm not sure if comments like that are getting more common or if I'm only noticing them now, but there seems to be a lot of rumours coming from tabloids followed by I can't understand why Rodgers is doing this, he clearly can't manage a team etc etc.

I think the people who come out with these statements need to reassess the situation and figure out if their disdain for the man himself is clouding their judgement.

Quite a few people have been calling Rodgers out on his management yet players like Suarez and Gerrard have come out and said he's been absolutely incredible for them. I know who I'd believe out of great former LFC players and the worst of the worst tabloid journalists.

I like Lucas but his biggest weakness is giving away free kicks and yellow cards.

Nah. the guy is a tactical-foul maestro.

The number of breakaway attacks that he snuffs out with a well-timed foul is amazing. He also seems to get away with yellow cards more than one would expect. My theory is that he rarely mouths off to referees and just runs off with his hand up acknowledging the foul with a cheery expression and the ref can't bring himself to book the cheeky little scamp.

Ojo starts for Wolves in the Capitol Cup

    The Swindon Town trio likewise.

Ojo got an assist (as mentioned on last page), Swindon lost 2-1 at home with all three of our players playing 90 mins. It's all about the experience for them (Vigouroux saved a pen at the w/e)

Lloyd Jones has started 2 games for Blackpool, they've conceded 5 but they are a mess that he cannot fix...

Danny Ward has played every minute for Aberdeen, including 4 Euro games and has done well - 2 clean sheets in the league.

Lucas at Real Madrid? Don't make me laugh. If Benitez wanted Lucas, he would have brought him to Napoli.

    Mon - 17 Bournemouth H
    Mon - 24 Arsenal A
    Sat - 29 West Ham H

    Sep-15
    Sat - 12 Manchester United A
    Sun - 20 Norwich H
    Sat - 26 Aston Villa H

    Oct-15
    Sun - 4 Everton A
    Sat - 17 Tottenham A
    Sun - 25 Southampton H
    Sat - 31 Chelsea A

    Minimum expectations?

I'm gonna look at just up to the end of September, and say if we get 12 points from Bournemouth, West Ham, Norwich, and Villa, even if we lose to Arsenal and United, I'd be pretty happy.

15 points from 7 games is a very decent start, imo.

More likely that we drop a few points in those four games and pick a draw or two up from Arsenal/United. Still, if we can get close to averaging 2 points a game it'll give us a decent platform to push for Top 4 and better, once we get through October.

Sad that I know this but am old enough to remember

Pepsi and Shirley were backing singers for Wham who went on to have a couple of singles as a duo

For even sadder random info one of them was married to Andrew Ridgely at some point

October could be the make or break to the season.

If we go into it with momentum from the previous 6 games I wouldn't fear those games.

If we go into them on the back of bad results and performances and get nothing out of them there will calls for heads to roll.

Beating Norwich and Villa at home could be vital, alright.

Win all the home games, win against Spurs and Everton and take what we can get from the rest. That's the way I'd be looking at it.

Would put us on 18 points before we even look at Spurs, Everton, etc.

18 points from 11 games, isn't amazing, but its not bad. Grab one more win from Arsenal, United, Spurs, Everton, and Chelsea, and we're pretty much at that 2 points per game average.

I don't expect us to win 5 home games on the trot, regardless of opposition, so pencil Southampton or West Ham in as a draw, put Spurs and Everton as draws too, and we're back to 18 points from 11 games.

I'm starting to think that should be our minumum target, and anything above that will go a long way towards Top 4.

Keep near the 2 ppg is the target.

We never win all the "easy" home games we expect to and we rarely lose all the tough away fixtures.

After 13 games if we have 21 points we wouldn't be in too bad a shape.
It's probably 3-4 points off top 4 pace, but we'd have played our 7 toughest away games of the season and would give us the chance to build a head of steam over the Christmas period.

15 points from the home games and 6 from Everton and Spurs leaves in a good spot imo whatever happens between the bigger clubs.

What makes him great then, if not his defensive awareness, his ability to break up play, his ability to keep the ball in tight situations and start off attacking moves?

Apart from Makelele, the rest of them are box to box midfielders. Makelele is probably next best imo, but a completely different player.

    I couldn't disagree more.

Barca relied on having 70% possession of the ball as their main line of defense. But when the did lose the ball and Alves and Abidal were in the opposition half, Busquets, playing the defensive midfield position, was absolutely crucial to their success.

He's a world class DM and because of him, another world class DM (Mascherano) has had to adapt to become a CB at club level.

I would say Masch is centre back because Busquets is a better passer of the ball than him......Masch is easily a better defensive midfield player

Given that we will have played Arsenal, Man Utd, Everton, Spurs and Chelsea away, we can't complain if we are 6/8 points back. But we would have to have a great spell after that to make up the difference, the latter third of the season has a habit if disregarding who the 'better' team is...

From watching the Stoke game I'd like to holding midfield player sit behind Milner and Henderson. They are all action and if we release them from pure defensive duties I think both can get up to support Benteke more in attack and both can score goals this season.

I'd love for Liverpool to buy a really top defensive mid player to slot in there. I don't know enough about Illaramendi but he sounded like he could have been a good option there. In the mean time I think Can should be given a go there for the next game. However, this morning I'm thinking I'd actually like to see Lucas again in that position with the new set up.
So many of our opinions from last year are based on games etc. where the structure was a mess so hard to judge players properly.

Therefore for the next game I'd like to see more of a 4-3-3 with the width coming from the full backs mainly and Lucas sitting deeper:

    Mignolet
    Clyne Skrtel Lovren Moreno
    Lucas
    Henderson Milner
    Coutinho Benteke Firminio

I'd like to see this as well. I think it's our strongest line up. Maybe Sahko in for Lovren.

I think Can in for Lucas is stronger, allows more flexibility during the game as Hendo can drop back between the CBs and Can gets license to go forward.

I wouldn't play Can if Moreno and Lovren are playing. Too many gaps. Lucas should start if those two are playing.

Hendo would be a disaster in defense IMO. His strengths are further up the field.
