He does however need to be less violent with door opening judging by looks of door edges  :P

Cleaned mine friday, just a quick wash n rinse

Thanks for tar removal any halfords products you would recommend?

Not sure what they stock, but steer clear of Holt Tar Remover in the aerosol cans....messy and very aggressive.

I gave the car a quick going over. Washed with 50cal snowfoam (left on for 15 minutes or so) and rinsed. Washed with 2BM with Autoglym Shampoo and dried with a Dry-me-Crazy. Wheels were done with Bilt Hamber Autowheels and that was that. It got a proper detail two weeks ago.

It rained so I could see the beading

Myself and Da then tackled the Motorhome. The cab was done with 50cal snowfoam, rinsed and washed with Autoglym Shampoo. Cab dried with the Dry-me-Crazy. The body was foamed with dilute Mud-Buster Caravan & Motorhome cleaner. It was rinsed and then dried with the drying towel. The Mud-Buster was used neat on the sealent and black water streaks and rinsed and dried. Wheels were Bilt Hamber Autowheels and Autoglym tyre shine. Polycarbonate windows were done with Autoglym Fast Glass. Door jams with concentrate Mud-Buster and rinsed. All door rubbers cleaned and lubricated with Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber cleaner. The stainless steel bumper done with Autoglym metal polish. The only thing that was done inside was the dash with AG Fast Glass (I hate shiny dashboards).

No photos but that took us a day and a half, stopping for Tea breaks, etc. The small Wonder Wheels wheel brush from the group buy was dead handy for the crevasses etc. We did have to tape it to an old brush handle. A good step ladder is also needed. God love us if we actually decide to clay, polish, wax & seal the bloody thing......

Edit - I now see a bit I missed on the wheel!

Spent a good few hours doing mine today.

Started off with using Bilt hamber auto wheel and a wheel wash and then a snow foam using Valet Pro PH Neutral. Washed using 2BM with 50cal APC.
Then used OAC iron cleanse, washed and dried and used OAC tar cleanse. Washed that off and then used the Meguiars clay bar kit i won off James in MX Valeting
Washed using 2BM with Car Pro Reset.
Polished with SRP and waxed with Collinite 845.
Used CG wheel guard and OAC Tyre Glitz on the shoes.

I'm glad the clay is contributing to this epic finish. Well done!

Surprisingly or rather unsurprisingly there wasn't much ****e on it. Bit behind the rear wheels and small bit on passengers door but that was it.

The hardest thing about detailing it was the fecking irish weather! Clouds, sun, rain, clouds and then more sun!

That's a great looking Mondeo especially in estate form. The mk4 always did look best in black. Did you use a DA for the polishing ?

I wish! Good old manual labour.

Playing with the idea of getting one so just seen who does use one and what not, though looking at my own mk3 I more then likely do need one.

It's first coat of anything. Fusso is amazing tack. I couldn't get the video to work but water just falls off it.

Annnd I suppose it's dirty already!?! I know mine would, especially with the crap weather this summer. Everywhere is wet and dirty.

They funny thing with the fusso when I had it on my last car. I noticed the more it rained the less I had to wash the car. It seemed to wash the heavy dirt off.

Gave it a quick wipe down with Quick Detailer and a Wheel Clean/Shine as it wasn't too dirty after the last week, new front pads make a massive difference to the cleanliness of the wheels!

How in the name of God did I manage without a chamois drying thing. Got an autoglym kit last October, only discovered it the other day. They are such powerful absorbers, leaving a perfect finish. The only thing is that it's a tad small (about 30cm by 30cm), so it's saturated before I get the Mondeo done

Get the Dry Me Crazy towel on DetailingShed, does the whole car with plenty of life left in it! Pity my dog got at mine recently...

Whole car! Saturday my Dry Me Crazy did two cars and a 22 foot motorhome and it had a whoke lot of life left in it.

Exit - I was a chamois guy until I tried the Dry Me Crazy. I'm now totally converted

A chamois is far from ideal on paintwork - over time they tend to dry out and become hard, which will cause swirls on the paintwork.

#1 keep it clean, very clean. Rinse exterior well from top down. I'd use an open hose flooding the exterior, if you want to be super safe.
#2 pressure, let it do its job no need to us any pressure just bring it across the surface.
#3 keep it damp, store in a ziplock bag.
#4 bear in mind debris have no where to hide as the is no fibers, grit will scratch a lot more in this case.

If youre not careful the most softest towel will swirl up your paint. I've seen CarPro boa towels marr paint after its been washed, clayed, deconed, dried, polished.

It's not a case of buy this and you will not get swirls or scratches.

think and use your brain first, ask yourself .......

think and use your brain first, ask yourself .......

The issue is that people arent aware of the potential damage they are doing to their cars, as they are ignorant to what is causing it and how its causing it. So with a small bit of guidance, they soon realise the error in their ways - though, not everyone is willing to take on board good advice! :)

Obviously you can cause damage with any product if used incorrectly, but its better to advice them on what the best product is for the job. I mean if someone was painting a room with a brush, you'd recommend a roller, yeah? Well, you probably dont need to explain how to use it - the person will learn pretty quickly! ;)

As a matter of interest who did you get to tint the windows? and if you don't mind me asking how much was it, ball park even. I have a similar size car so would like an idea of what I should be in and around. Looking at going with Solar Guard in Cork.
