In that sense, Lama is Buddha's follower but in Western Civilization, we have no choice but to make money or else we wouldn't be able to live.

you could always go off and live in alaska and live off the land. a lot who live in alaska do. they hunt for food and cut wood for heat and do not deal in money.

You couldn't just do that, you'd have to be acclimatised to it. Even here people who live in camps eventually have to buy things.

youd have to train how to hunt. but you can survive.

It is plausible but you'd still have to pay for the flight there. Did you see Breaking Bad where he was stuck in a wooden hut, it does not bode well for people being in the wilderness like that. You'd have to be brought up like that or be in a situation where you have no other choice but to be there. We are not acclimatised for environs so different to what we have gown with.

there was a doc called life below zero that portrayed people in this situation. one man left his home and relocated to 50 miles south of the artic circle. got himself a hut, hunts every day for food, chops wood for fuel, uses candles etc.

one would be foolish to just land themselves in the middle of no where like christopher mccandlis did, but if you properly prepare it can be done.

I was reading about a person who relocated to thailand recently and lives of the land. now its easier to do it in thailand than alaska because it is warmer (just grow food)

but it can be done. but one needs courage and to properly prepare. a hundred and fifty years ago henry david thoreau did the same and documented it in walden.

The problem is that people grow up in a capitalistic environment and are so used to technology and three meals a day that they cant tolerate the change. but it can be done.

I really liked that film Into The Wild. You had to admire him going off into the wilderness like that for periods of time. I guess it didnt end well for him though.

It's a colleague's leaving do, so I probably won't have time for chatting up. But, the opportunity may arise. Regardless, it'll be a good laugh :)

It's been ages since I've been on a date. I've become a bit hesitant about the whole thing after far too many knock backs :(
