I love watching this guy play. He decides on the shot, stands over it and hits it. No irritating mannerisms. Just gets on with it. So refreshing.

He has been playing well lately and I'm delighted that he has won again. He should be able to kick on into the top 10 now.

    F**king brilliant.

On the live pause so abit behind.

He won it with his par saves, kept bogies off his card and then the final hole was the icing on the cake.

Congratulations. Good on him. First to critisise him when he messed up. Was brilliant this week, never buckled. Has the ability, kick on now and win again.

As predicted, up to 19th in the world now. First non-PGA member to win a WGC event since Martin Kaymer won in 2011.

Great win, only Bubba looked like spoiling the party but wasn't able to.

Huge achievement for him. He seems very down to earth. Lets hope success doesn't turn him into a bit of a McIlroy.

Bubba looked like he was a spoiled child.....he can be really annoying - seems to sulk when things don't go his way.

I know this is coming from a Sky Commentator but....

One of them last night said that with the win, he would join the PGA tour and gain the 550 points on offer for the FedEx Cup for winning. Not only that but any points he would have built up prior to the win, would also be included.

The Fed Ex Cup points have been updated - http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.02671.html but Shane isnt anywhere on there.

Is that an oversight from the PGA tour or were Sky just telling porkies as usual ?

Shane must have learned to handle trees in Esker Hills and Tullamore.
Went over them on 10 -- birdie -- through them on 18 birdie.
Must have been his destiny -- a terrific win and another great boost for Irish International Golf.

A bit of a strange one. Sky were wrong.

If he had won a PGA event then Sky were right. But because it was a WGC event it doesn't work the same.

He doesn't get the 550 points since he wasn't a member (well wasn't a proper member)

    All explained here: http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/despite-wgc-win-lowry-not-fedex-cup-playoffs/

Great for him to have the PGA tour card now for a long stretch! Would be absolutely delighted if he rides this high for the PGA championship

    Yep, sky being sky

Lowry now has a three-year PGA TOUR exemption and the opportunity to play full-time on either side of the Atlantic. And although his FedExCup points won't count, the Irishman has the PGA Championship and Wyndham Championship to earn enough points to move into the top 125 on the points list and make the Playoffs.

Lowry will enter the PGA Championship with 222 FedExCup points.

    Lads . My own question.

When is last time Rep. Of Ireland had 2 wins in one season in us.

    Paddy ?

Ye, 2005. He won Honda Classic and Barclays (haven't read whole thread, so someone probably beat me to it)

Lowry and Harrington could make it 3 this year yet, that would be a record I'm sure!

Huge achievement. His has talked before about how his aim this year was to get a full tour card for 2016 and hopefully win a tournament, and now he's won one of the biggest tournaments and got himself a three year card, absolutely fantastic.

Let's hope he kicks on and adds more years to that card.

It is the changes to his lifestyle and focus on strength and conditioning that have helped him fully exploit his talent.
