I see Rodgers said that Lovren's good performance may have come from knowing he'd be starting today. So that's been on the cards from some time. Where does that leave Sakho?

It was very obvious from.preseason that lovren would be starting. I can see sakho looking for a move as he is going to want to be playing regularly ahead of euro 2016. I think sakho is our best cb.

The inability of those to deal with negative / critical posting is hilarious tbh. Sheep.

I've no problem with criticism, but some of you (not pointing the finger directly at you here) seem to have a problem with everything Brendan Rodgers does.

Also, the constant uttering of 'Sheep' in your posts just irks me. It's one thing to be wrong on some things, or at least possess an unpopular opinion, but you really take it as an attack and go on the offensive calling anybody in the right or with the popular opinion, 'Sheep'.

I've no problem with disagreeing with people on some things and agreeing with them on others, but you seem to think that whatever you say is right and everyone should see it that way, and if they don't, they're unfairly labelled a fluffy but rather smelly farm animal. Can you not just agree to disagree with people without labels?

I think yeah you're way off. We have alot of games this season with the Europa league and two cup competitions. Add in injuries and suspensions and there wil be plenty of opportunity for him to get on the pitch. Nothing wrong with having 18-20 players in the squad all capable of being in the first team.
He cost a fair whack and is fit.

What you describe is a fringe player. There's no way he's going to be a content cup player.

Yes but work is taking place, new roof and all. And that liverpool asked for the first game away from home to get as much time as possible

Anyone else a bit peeved with Mignolet choosing to launch it everytime he got the ball. Cant remember a short pass he gave to the full or centre backs. Hope it isnt a sign of things to come.

Well my criticism of ming's last season was that he didn't launch it enough last season. Always wanted to play the short pass or throw

I'm not saying he will just be playing the cup games. He will also play PL games as other starters are injured or rested after Europa League games. When we play Europa league games it's not gonna be a completely different 11 that played in the previous league game and therefore there could be openings in the following league games for the likes of Markovic. Am I really explaining the idea of squad rotation here???
He'll be a squad player, he is 21 and didn't have a great debut season. I'm sure he will learn to live with it and he will get some chances. It's up to him what he does with those chances which will affect his future playing time.

West Brom becoming the new west ham for our unwanted players.

It took pressure off the defence having to move it around the back, doubt we'll always do it but with Benteke up top it's not a bad option.

Thought Gomez did well today but my only reservation would be having a right footer playing LB. you'd like your full backs to swing in a cross if that's the better option at times and I'm not sure what he is like crossing with his left. Also if his preference is to cut inside it will be quite easy for other teams to figure that out.

    What's his left peg like?

There's talk that Lucas and Rodgers had a falling out. Doesn't sound good.

    EDIT:
Anfield HQ ‏@AnfieldHQ96 13m13 minutes ago

Lucas Leiva was left out of the squad entirely following a fall-out which presumably now promotes the prospect of a parting. (Paul Joyce)

Ah for f*ck sake. If our one actual DM is not going to be played because of a spat, I fear for our season.

Not going to say a great deal about the match except clean sheet & 3 points :)

Regarding the team selection, Benteke, Milner & Clyne were essentially must starts along with Gomez considering Moreno wasn't match fit.

So that's 4 new comers, I reckon Rodgers was reluctant to start Can in the midfield 3 away to Stoke given that Lovren was starting too, effectively a must start given Sakho's good lady having a baby during the week.

With Lallana, Coutinho & Ibe behind Benteke I imagine Milner & Hendo were under clear instructions not to leave Lovren & Sakho exposed.

As the game went on and it seemed that Lovren & Sakho were doing fine no doubt due in part to the two functioning FBs Rodgers introduced Can for an ineffective Lallana.

    Things got better.

    Goal was a peach.

He didn't play much of 2013/2014 either tbh & Allen came in for him and did quite well in 2014/2015 when required.

Not the end of the World if he leaves imo, don't think he will leave though and he most definitely has a place in the squad, not quite the pivotal one many people on here think though.

The next line of the article that the tweet left out for whatever reason is that he would need replacing. Lucas is our best dm as he is our only true dm, i think he could be upgraded.

No doubt but I don't think Rodger's fancies a true DM and I don't think FSG will go out and buy one who can spray a ball well.

    Fingers crossed he stays :)

Lucas is a decent DM, but if Rodgers doesn't plan on using a DM then he's as good as useless.
