I don't think it's that big of a stretch to believe there are some people who believe that BR is that bad that the best thing for the club would be to take defeats so he will get the bullet, all for the greater good of course.

If we win lots of games and achieve what I would like the club to achieve brilliant. If we start to lose too many games I wouldn't argue for any patience. I expect the latter scenario will be in play this season, but if it is the former and we finish top four / progress in Europe I'll be delighted. I can stomach Rodgers so long as we're winning. I am a football fan after all.

    Just saw Coutinho's goal. Cracker!

Firmino (from the little I've seen him) looks very much a Suarez-esque player. Not a speed merchant, but certainly nippy, hard-working, doesn't give up, skilful.
Will be exciting to see him get more game-time.

Don't think Lallana is a great option for the wing. Hasn't got enough pace.

The absolute state of this thread but it's to be expected. The regular whingers must have been gutted when Coutinho smashed that ball in. They probably had to delete their novel of discontent to replace it with 'good win'. :pac:

No player is bigger than the club but the manager certainly seems to be in your mind. What a simple life to live it must be.

    Was very poor today.

To be honest it's just great to feel validated as an optimist today :p

Really weird to watch the team defend with some confidence today. Still a few nervy moments from Skrtel, but it looks promising if we keep that up.

Or Gomez valiantly preventing a corner and clearing it into the box.:o

    Nearly shat myself.

As it stands, I'd be quite happy to see Gomez start against Bournemouth and Arsenal.

He's done nothing wrong and looked solid today, and it's not like Moreno is a super LB to begin with.

Played the ball back blind across his box to stop it going out, he was bound to have at least one brain-fart! I'd say he is laughing about it now though, its strange to think he only played for Charlton for 1 year and is that good..

I would start maybe start Moreno vs Bournemouth. Gomez was excellent but we need an overlapping LB for that game. I would put Gomez back in vs Arsenal though.

Oh yeah, and that clanger! Glad it worked out though, if that had turned into a goal, it would have really dented his and the teams defensive confidence. We really need to go on a long run without defensive howlers, all that back 5 could do with it.

Yeah, me hoping that we would have exacted revenge is bad fandom somehow?

We want the team to win lots of games. We are worried that the team won't win lots of games because of failings on the part of the manager. But we most definitely want the team to win. I was watching the game with a Liverpool fan and we jumped up and high fived, etc when Coutinho dinged that in.

The inability of those to deal with negative / critical posting is hilarious tbh. Sheep.

Ye hugged!! Just admit it. No one will judge you. :)

Just 3 defenders marking Skrtel, bit risky that

What's the opinion on Markovic lads? Can't see him getting on the bench now, so am I way off in thinking he'll be gone by September 1st, loan or sold regardless?

Any news on how the new stand is looking with just a week left to get things finished.

Probably been said already but Henderson laying deep doesn't work. We need him making runs from deep into the box, second half was a slight improvement.

Gomez was impressive, the back 4 had a few moments but overall looked pretty tight

Solid win in a tough opener, looking forward to the next game.

I think yeah you're way off. We have alot of games this season with the Europa league and two cup competitions. Add in injuries and suspensions and there wil be plenty of opportunity for him to get on the pitch. Nothing wrong with having 18-20 players in the squad all capable of being in the first team.

Agreed. Should be more advanced as he actually times his runs into the box really well and Milner is more suited to playing the balls in.

I see Rodgers said that Lovren's good performance may have come from knowing he'd be starting today. So that's been on the cards from some time. Where does that leave Sakho?
