Weaning

    I am at the end of year one with a small flock of sheep. Our lambing was late (May) and I need to consider a plan for weaning soon. Any tips on what issues I might face?


    Also, my ram is still running with the ewes and need to separate him out from them. I tried it a few weeks ago but he went mad trying to go through fencing. What is the best method of separating a ram from the flock? Should I have some company for him? I have most of the farm fenced but there is 10 acres away from the house that needs to be fenced. Ideally, I would move him there but it will be a few weeks before I can do so.

    Leave the ram with lambs when you wean them. . Yes he needs company. He will keep breaking out on his own otherwise.

    try and keep them as far apart as possible, if they can hear + see each other they'll do their best to break back
