I found this a great motivation this year and I obviously set them right because I'm barely missing almost all of them. :) Not quite the end of the year yet but as a track runner, it might as well be Christmas. One last go at the 15 next week, which is the main one. Just a measly 1.8 seconds to go. Come on!

I may run a half marathon at some point but it wont be a specific goal. Not sure I'll manage a 10 Mile race this year.

Best times from 2013 and 2014 are shown below, what do you think? Thanks!

    Distance|2013|2014|2015|Actual
    5K|23:46|21:09|19:xx|20:06
    5 Mile|44:53|38:30|34:xx|35:43
    10K|51:51|48:24|42:xx|42:08
    10 Mile|89:39|78:58||73:57
    Half|2:02:23|1:42:51|1:37:xx|
    Marathon|N/A|3:49:23|3:30:xx|

Plenty of fails so far this year. Still hopeful on the 5 Mile, Half and Marathon.

I'm not going to get anywhere near the goals I've set myself in this thread for this year, but I'm ok with that! Decided not to do a half ironman because I lost so much training time with my wedding and honeymoon and also didn't get in anywhere near enough bike time in over the winter. I'm a weak (but slowly improving) cyclist so that was always going to be the stumbling block.

Have decided I'm not racing longer than 10km or Olympic distance tri this year. I've run my 2nd fastest 5k ever and set a sprint tri PB in the last couple of weeks, so things are going well. I'm hoping to have a crack at my 10k PB in November, there's a 4 lap 10k on a pancake-flat course in Battersea so c'mon sub-50 at last! I'm also hoping to get under 3 hours at the London Triathlon in a couple of weeks time.

Most importantly for me... NO INJURIES :D (touch wood)

Injury took away the first half of my year, so my goals will have to be pushed back. Missed the start line for my first marathon, meaning Dublin is now to be my first all going well :)

I'll throw up mine for 2015

    10K: sub 45mins
    1/2 Marathon: Sub 1:40
    Marathon: Sub 3:30

Marathon definitely the toughest and a bit of a stretch.
I'm hoping I can knock off the other 2 during my marathon training.
NYC in November is the goal marathon.

    Okay, here goes:

    1. Run 2000+ Miles
    2. Marathon year for me after focusing on HM times in 2014. Plan is to run Connemara in April. Goal for this race is sub 3:45. Primary Goal then will be run a sub 3:30 Marathon on a flatter course in Autumn (current PB 3:59:09 - DCM 2013).

Way behind on my mileage goal due to missing 7 wks with injury across Mar/Apr/May. Mileage had started getting back on track until I managed to sprain my ankle last week - wasn't even running :o still hopeful I can achieve my A goal at DCM.

Time to put some of these figures to writing

    1. Sub 1.18 HM
    2. Sub 60min 10 mile
    3. Sub 17min 5K
    4. Sub 36min 10K
    5. Run a middle distance race / sub 5 min mile or 1500m equivalent
    6. Run over 2,500 miles on the year

Ticked off the 10K target with 35.51 last weekend. Next race will be the race series 10 mile so hope to give that target a go there. Decided to do an autumn marathon after all so the other shorter distance targets might not get hit.

My goals for the rest of the year are
-get my 5k time down to 30 minutes or less
    -Complete a 10km
-Complete a 10km without any walking
    -Complete a 10km under 80 minutes

First time I've taken up jogging regularly so I'm trying to set realistic (hopefully) attainable goals.

Had a long think about what my goals are for this year so finally got it sorted and doing it differently this year, only 2 goals, everything else is secondary:

Goal 1 - Concentrate on doing more S&C work and doing it consistently (started going to the gym twice a week), need to stop getting injured all the time - and I know the areas to work on (right glute).
Goal 2 - Get under the 4 hours in Dublin marathon - Current PB 4:10 (4:22 in Dublin:mad:)

Nice to haves - but not going to push it if it affects the goals above:

    5k - sub 20 (PB 20:51 - 2013)
    10K - 43 min (PB 44:26 - 2014), run under 7min/mile
    10 mile - sub 75min (PB 92 min -2011) - only ever run 1
    HM - 1:39:00 (PB 1:40:51 - 2014)
    > 1120 miles run - (1120 - 2014) not too pushed on this but will track it anyway

1:38:55 in yesterday's half marathon so 1 nice to have down :).
    So far best times are:
    5k: 20:38
    10k 44:47
Most importantly have being doing more strength training and foam rolling every night. Some knee niggles but nothing major.

    Feeling good for DCM.

Blew my 1/2 target right out of the park with 1:34:03 over the weekend.
Delighted with that and puts me right on course for a crack at a sub 3:30 in NYC next month.

Also according to strava I ran a 44 min 10K as part of my half. :p

Right.... Here we go again.... Another spin of the wheel....

    5k: sub 15:30 Nope: 15:47
    10k: sub 32:30 Nope: 33:08
    10 mile: sub 54:30 Yep: 54:27
    1/2: 1:13 Yep: 1:13:01
Marathon sub 2:32:30 - ask me again in 4 weeks
10 round numbers........ again................ Nope: missed chance to run the 400m

Looks like I'll hit around 3,970 miles for this year, so next year, maybe I'll plumb for 4k miles. - On track
3/4 of the way through he year, and have had pretty mixed results, but largely in the right direction. Missed my half-marathon goal by two seconds, but I wasn't specific enough when I declared it, so I'm going to call it good. Was definitely too ambitious for the 5k/10k, but still hoping to be on target for the marathon.

    1) Main goal Rotterdam - ideally Sub 3, see how training goes over next few months - 2:55, 48 min PB !
    2) Half Sub 80 ( currently 81:40)- 79:18
    3) 10k Sub 36 ( currently 36:38) - maybe next year
    4) 10 mile - haven't done many ,currently 63:43. Hopefully get close to 60, maybe next year for this one. - 60;13 still a bit annoyed about those 13secs, trained through for it though.
    5) Do more Cross Country - 1st last weekend, more to come
    6) Stay relatively injury free , actually this should be number 1.
    - Good year so far

Looking for big improvement next year.

    Mile- 4:xx
    3k- 9:xx
    5k- 17:2x
    10k- 36:xx
Over 2000 miles for the year.

Being ambitious but if I get the last one in, I think I'll have a good shot at the others.

I suppose it's about time to look back on the year and goals, I'll kick it off as it can only go up from me on. I didn't come within an asses road of any of the above and didn't run one PB. The closet I got to any was an equivalent mile time from a 1500m back in June which was still 20 seconds short of target. Haven't run a 5k or 10k since February and fell 57 seconds short of my 3k target back in June. Only broke 40 once in a 10k and barely at that and a 19:20 5k at the start of the year.

It's not all doom and gloom though as I did get out run a lot of different disciplines like track and XC over the year and recovered from my worst ever run in May which was a half in 1:38 (12 minutes slower than PB from 2 years ago) to run some good XC races by the end of this year, 2016 is looking a lot brighter and I think the above targets for this year should be achieveable and realistic for next year.

How did everyone else get on?

But the secondary goal I had of 2000 miles looks to be just out of reach. 176 miles out of reach as of this evening.:pac:

Have a few more 5ks lined up over the next few weeks so I'd like to give 17:30ish a go.

Run more consistently not taking a few weeks off here and there for no reason.
Work somewhere with access to a shower so I can run at lunch and take the pressure off my evenings.
Actually do my LSRs every weekend and run then with someone to alleviate the boredom.

    5k: Sub 20 (About 2m30s improvement required)
    10k: Sub 40 (About 6m improvement required)
HM: Complete it without walking the the last 2k feeling like death....

Pretty happy really. First proper year of having a crack at this running lark I'd say. Mostly ran injury free (after March). Went to the club a lot more consistently and ran a lot more in general. Also really enjoyed my running this year. Will almost hit 1000 miles for the year which considering where I was at one point is a good result.

Consistency in running- Good since getting on top of niggles after March

Joined the gym near work used 90% of the time to shower. 2 lunchtime runs a week makes a big difference to fitting it all in around family life.

Still not doing the lsrs with company but I will sort that out in the new year. It's all organised through Facebook and having never had an account I'm reluctant to start now.

    5k-19:15 delighted with that.

10k- 41:40ish not too happy with that. Expected to be a lot closer.

HM: 1:33:30 very happy with that, felt great and got the worst day of my running life out of my system.

    Main Targets

    London Marathon - Done (3.17.50)

    Summit Snowdon (Wales) - Done

New York or Chicago Marathon (not sure which) - Chicago Done (3.11.50)

    Other Targets:

    5K = 19.29 - 19.31
    4M = 25.59 - Didnt run one
    5M = 33.59 - Didnt run one
    10K = 42.59 - 40.33
    10M = 1.11.59 - 1.10.31
    Half = 1.32.59 - 1.34.26
    Full = 3.19.59 - 3.11.50

Pleased with most of the results above. Didn't get to run a 4 or 5 miler and the half marathon i was supposed to target (Waterford) was cancelled.

    400m 68sec
    800m 140sec
    1 mile <5.30 mins
    5km < 18 mins
    5 m < 30 mins
    10km < 38 mins
    10 mile < 65 mins
    Half Mara < 85 mins

I might as well try the first 3 but I will just time them myself.
My main goal is just to keep at the running and enjoy it. If I do that hopefully the times will come.
I haven't included a marathon time as I want to concentrate on the times for smaller distances for the first half of the year and re-evaluate then.

Only one I managed was the 10 mile.
I have been injured for over 10 weeks between hurting my back and what I think is a stress fracture in my foot. Started off with a dead feeling in my toe and was getting sorer at the end of runs. Was going to get it xrayed but decided to leave it. Hoping to get back running in the next week or so.
Overall was really enjoying my running. I find it gives me a great focus outside of all other stuff.

New year new goals I guess!

    5k sub 19

    10k sub 40

    Hm sub 1:30

    run my first marathon

Unfortunately these goals are very similar to last years goals :(

i have never ran a 5 mile or a 10 mile race, i hope to rectify this
    early in the new year.

    5k sub 19 - 19:06

    10k sub 40 - 40:35

    Hm sub 1:30 - 1:28:56

run my first marathon - 3:18:30

I ran my first 5 mile race in January(Ferrycarrig 33:35) but no 10 mile race.

Looking back on 2015 it has been a good year running wise. While i didnt hit the 5 and 10k goals both times were PBs. I ran my first marathon(DCM) this year and it is a day i never will forget but for me the highlight of the year was the sub 1:30 Half.
I was hoping to have another go at the 5k goal before the end of the year but im currently injured and my running is over for the year:(.

    Half|2:02:23|1:42:51|1:37:xx|Fail - No Half
    Marathon|N/A|3:49:23|3:30:xx|Fail - No Marathon

Not Great, though was close on the 5K, and would have hit the 5 Mile time if I'd raced another one.

    Goals for 2015:

    - top 50 place in the 24 hrs worlds
    - run and finish the Spartathlon

Is it that time of the year already? Blimey, time flies when you're having fun!

    - top 50 place in the 24 hrs worlds - placed 60th (still happy enough, though)
    - run and finish the Spartathlon - done

Not a bad year at all but I wasn't entirely happy with either performance. Maybe I'm just greedy.

    5k: 19:30, 20.47 current- 18.26

    5m: 31:59, 36.35 current- 30.42

    10k: 39:59, 41.57 current- 39.40

    10m: 67:59, 71.47 current- 67.01

    HM: 1:29:59, 1:37:40 current- 1.28.38

    Marathon: 3:29:59, N/A- 3.18.30

1,800 miles for the year- 2,100 and counting

Happy enough with this as most of the PBs were recorded in the first 6 months of the year and some are a bit old now. The 5k time is my most recent and the one I am happiest with. The Marathon time is the one I am least happy with as it was a result of stupidity going out way too fast and really struggling in the last 8 miles.

Hopefully keep up some sort of mileage over the next few weeks and look forward to setting 2016 goals.

    2015 targets:

Some of the times are aggressive but if I get close I am moving in the right direction

    Non-Time Targets
    - 6 PB's
    - 1st team scorer in atleast 2 road races/Championship races
    - 3000 miles
    - Average 250 mpm
    - Atleast race once a month (consistency)

    Times
    800m: sub 2.04
    1500m : sub 4.12
    3000m: sub 9
    3000m S/C: sub 10.15
    5000m: Sub 15.45
    10,000m: Sub 33
    HM: sub 75

Very Ambitious targets set at the start of the year, knew would be tough to get near but gotta aim high

    Times
    800m: sub 2.04 No 800m ran
1500m : sub 4.12 4.24 indoors in 1st race of year none since
    3000m: sub 9 9.28 - returning from illness improved each race (9.58, 9.32, 9.28) but 8 shy of PB
3000m S/C: sub 10.15 Missed due to broken collarbone
5000m: Sub 15.45 16.27, broke longest standing PB
10,000m: Sub 33 34.11, 1 sec shy of PB in a solo run
HM: sub 75 None ran due to cancelled race

    - 6 PB's 2 (4 if you include XC finishing places)
    - 1st team scorer in atleast 2 road races/Championship racesBronze in Dublin Champions 10k, 1st scorer in 2 from 3 XC race
    - 3000 miles On target for roughly 2500 due to high volume of cross training between collarbone and other issues
    - Average 250 mpm Approx 210 a month
    - Atleast race once a month (consistency) 14 races despite missing 2 months of racing due to non running related injury

All in all I am happy with this year. Probably my most consistent to date and I know it will yield benefits. Times didn't come as I got sick 14 days before 1st target race of the year (ended up running 40 sec slower than I had 20 days previously) and breaking collarbone 3 weeks before Nationals but since then the XC has gone to plan.

While I didn't expect to hit many of the targets as they were the Gold standard ones I do feel like I worked well towards them so I don't feel as though it was a failure of a year. The 5k pb had stood for nearly 10 years though so was particularly pleased with that one.

Got my 100 mile trail run in the bag in April, took me 46 hours (sleep incl. :o sshhhh) and hobbled to the finish line but got it done. Bonus was that I got to run the Chicago Marathon so the majors are in my sights now. :)
