CSS Calculated

    Very quick question. Is the CSS calculated by a computer program?

    In the comp today at my home club, out of a field of 70 or so, 6 players scored better than 36 points, yet the CSS is 37. Would that be normal enough?

    It's to do with different category golfers along with other things like SSS. It's very confusing but I'd say yes it's common enough to not understand why a Css is what it is when you see the results.

    Yip it's a standard formula that is applied.
    It can cause a few heads to be scratched, it's weighted towards the lower categories and how they do. So today's comp must have seen more lower guys score better in proportion.

    In general, I think the normal range is about 10% matching or beating CSS.

    Suppose 10% as a rough guide was right, I'll remember that for again.

    Walked off the course with 38 points, delighted I was going to drop down to 11.something for the first time ever, then realize marker made a mistake so only 37 points, but at least it should be a cut, then see the CSS and no bloody cut at all.
