Not a dummy team, positional changes is about as much as surprises will be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 417 ✭✭CORKDOUBLE

I would not be so sure about Ruairi Deane I have watched the drawn game a few times and I was very surprised how slow he was ..to be fair he is only coming back off a very serious injury ....no place in the subs for John O Rourke or Tomas Clancy Clon. No doubt we have to bring something new to the replay saying what we did the last day is fine and feeling good about yourself is a very dangerous way to approach this match ....but I have a feeling {hopefully anyway ! } that we might surprise them as well...One thing is a must we have to show the same aggression and hunger as we did the last day take no sh.. from them and not be bullyed because Kerry are going to be very physical this time for sure ...if we take this game on with that drive we wont be far off ...

I hope be wrong but we have golden opportunity but we're going to miss the boat in we learned nothing from the drawn game

That team were outscored ist half scored just goal two play last twenty minutes second half no score point play

There is problem from that game
Kerry are ready to hit o Connor from the ist minutes as Spillane o se the bomber you name it lauded him praise and imo needs support

Cork double pace won't matter Saturday if weather bad and deane isn't that slow and he'll fight win collision that gould won't I fear

One good thing is Cork management been quite barely said word that's good but this team i think management have said yes gave us good performance so we are loyal
There loyalty imo and evolution to win
A fine line yes but you have to be bold ruthless with the calls
I hope I'm wrong so so wrong
If cork are to win I think we need subs fast and not with twenty minutes to go down six points
    Management have to act fast

It kills me to agree with you TTM, but you are spot on with the speed of substitutions.
Donncadh was almost in rigour mortis the last day before they replaced him.
Looks like Gooch is history now but James O Donoghue needs special treatment and if we limit him to 3 or 4 points we will win this game always assuming that Mr Deegan gives us a fair crack of the whip.

Deegan is a good ref I agree

    Hopefully we'll win
Myself and yourself are of similar views imo few times we different opinion nature sport

But we both want cork be best they can be
Must win game imo moral victory draw I don't believe in must win

I don't agree with banning the Confederate Flag from your supporters. In the context of a Cork sporting crowd the flag has one meaning only: that of a rebel.

In an American context it means something else. And the argument for restricting its use is, and should be, different over there.

But things have to be taken in their context.

For example, In the context of northern Ireland, a certain tune is known as The Famine Song, and contains the racist/sectarian line "The Famine's over. Why don't you go home"

However would that be grounds for banning the well loved Beach Boys tune the Sloop John B in the US because its tune is used with alternative lyrics for such sectarian purposes in IReland? OF course not.

A similar case could be made against the American Military tune Marching through Georgia, which in the hands of Rangers fans is refitted with the charming lyric "We're up to our necks in Fenian blood, surrender or you;ll die!"

It would be nonsense to ask Americans to silence these tunes for fear of offending easily offended Irishmen. (Most of whom would probably be bloody Corkmen)

So let them fly their Rebel flag.

Your logic is backwards. If somebody takes an ordinary song and fits it with hateful lyrics, the original songwriter is not at fault.

It's much more difficult to take a hateful symbol like the Confederate flag and make it innocent. In fact, I would say it's impossible.

By the way, a lot of southerners are offended by Marching Through Georgia. It's about General Sherman's march to the sea.

    I hope so
It will be the ist time he does dummy team
Who is going to drop out
I can't see him dropping kerrigan or gould

I had my reservations regards Kevin o Driscoll but he's was excellent v kerry and while bigger tests await he was brilliant ist game couldn't be faulted and once particular role play he strength has start

I'd prefer him over gould who nobody can doubt he's skill but big big games in consistent and fifteen minutes kerrigan ist day I would like see more convincing me as can despite great talent be inconsistent

What an outstanding , outstanding article by ex Cork player Conor McCarthy in todays Examiner ...an honest written article telling the truth well done Conor just one of the best pieces I have ever seen written ....now hopefully the lads can go out and take no crap from them anymore ...best of luck to all and do yourselfs justice and we cant ask for anymore ....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 417 ✭✭CORKDOUBLE

One thing that should be said the Kerry manager adds his 36/37 years old brother in law to the subs and he has not played in a couple of years ...my goodness if Cuthbert did something like that ....I suppose he is a great manager ask Mark Griffin whos kicked of the panel and he was there full back all year .

Yerra there was about as much facts to back up Conor's article as there is for one of Darragh's in fairness. It's all a bit of a storm in a teacup. The ref 2 weeks ago gave a harsh penalty and could have given another black card to Kerry (Stephen O'Brien). Those were the 2 major decisions, nothing to do with any plámásing of the ref, just 2 dodgy calls by an incompetent ref.

In fairness Conor might have felt he wanted to respond in kind to all the Kerry commentary in the media, so fair enough but I doubt any of it has much real effect.

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/kerry-v-cork-plaacutemaacutes-picardia-and-penalty-pain-343072.html

Great read to be fair but he's playing the card and correctly so put spotlight on Deegan and he's right not up cuthbhertt etc do it but from lad outside camp do it

However it's wrong cork totally be poor mouth blame ref when in truth should put game out sight and lot mistakes still made so relying luck referee alone won't do tomorrow imo

Best of luck to the Cork football team tonight
If changes made fast and right tactics played can win but we'll know after the game if so
Cork have footballers no doubt on panel beat them
Every box must be ticked though

Doing like the last day isn't enough
Cork have to improve further and evolve

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

Cork will be beaten by 5+ points this evening. We left it after us the last day. Colm o Neill should hang his head in shame with that effort of a 45. He should have been a lot more clever and either drive it wide or kick it short to one of his players. You get one chance of beating Kerry and you take it. I don't believe in miracles and we won't be at the races tonight v Kerry. It's Cork football we are talking about here lads. We only ever have won 7 all Ireland's in our history and we all know why.

Only a point in it at ht

Shields going down as if he was shot was a total joke.
Sheehan had fouled 3 times, including a blatant Jersey pull on kerrigan before eventually getting booked for handbags, should have had a yellow before that, he should also be man marked as he is free All the time.
    Great goal by kerrigan.
That Kerry defence is porous and there are certainly more goals there if we run at them.

Kerry getting a lot of the 50/50 calls, hope that changes in the second half.
    Enjoyable game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,371 ✭✭✭zetecescort

high aimless 50/50 ball into our forwards is poor. good to be only one down but went along time without scoring. seems like every Kerry tackle is neck high. Not good to see Sheilds acting the clown.

I know conditions are poor but its a shocking game so far tbf

Enjoyable first half. Conditions are appalling for July. Nail biting stuff. Hopefully wind gives us the edge second half, in a very close game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,738 ✭✭✭Balmed Out

    Wind has died down apparently

I hate Cork football with a passion. Typical I knew it all along. We were going to lose replay.

For God sake...what an absolutely pathetic second half performance. Ended up hoofing it into a midfielder.

Those players need to seriously look at themselves too...the decision making all through the game was dire. Players going for scores from appalling positions...headless chicken stuff. Absolutely awful.

Some of our supposed marquee forwards lack of movement isn't good enough...too happy to coast through games. Don't have the bravery to grab that game by the scuff of the neck.

Didn't deserve to win that game or any game. We don't have the mentality to win big games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,590 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

The goal finished us off. Our passing was horrendous and I know conditions were bad. Our full forward line don't make the necessary runs and it was the same the first day. We'd better off with a target man inside.. Our running game was never going to work in these conditions.

Awful display the goal masked a dreadful performance
