Have a friend interested in travel and tourism. Any good book recommendations?

If they'd enjoy a humourous take on things, Bill Bryson's books are very good.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

+1 for Bill Bryson, my favourites were "Neither Here nor There" (Europe) and "A Walk in the Woods" (Appalacian Trail).

If you're looking for a book about travel (as in, not about a particular place, but more like a history of travel and tourism) then the most accessible book I've ever read on the subject is "Grand Tours and Cook's Tours", by Lynne Whitey (I think!).
