Could you mix it up? One week with them and another with your original plan? Might get a bit more messy but if you work it out you could get a bit of both worlds then.

yes I think that's the best option, I was looking again at the speed session for saturdays and they serve a purpose and swapping it for a temp run won't have the same benefits. I will do the tempo run on the weeks I'm doing a parkrun though I think that will work. To be honest, I think anything I do in the next 10 weeks, as long as its consistent, is going to improve my 10K times so I'm not going to worry too much about it, I have a tendency to over think these things....

    Friday 3rd July 3 miles easy @ 10.20

Saturday 4th July no parkrun this morning as I needed to go to a funeral :( absolutely heartbreaking and another reminder that life can be snatched away in an instance by a senseless tragedy. Wasn't much in the mood for anything afterwards but brought the dog to St Catherines which was resplendent in the beautiful sunshine. Finally went out the door at 6pm for a run.

4 miles @ 10.15. 2 miles warm up at easy pace, 1 mile including 5 x 30 seconds fast and relaxed followed by 60 sec recovery. Really enjoyed the fast sections of this concentrated on staying relaxed and keep a good form. 1 mile cool down jog home. Quads have been sore all week so will do some foam rolling later on. Am going to try and get tomorrows run done early and escape the worst of the heat.

Sorry to hear that FD - yes, it's all relative, isn't it..

I was going to say - if you're going for a parkrun in Cabinteely in the next couple of weeks, let me know and I'll join you as part of my LSR, if possible.

    Sunday 5th July 6 miles @ 10:14
    10:01, 10:15, 9:46, 10:11, 10:20, 10:49.
went up to the PP for this, very enjoyable run in the rain, refreshing and plenty of air :-) went down by farmleigh, S bends around to the monument and back up Chesterfield Ave. Last mile was on the inside grass trail just to try it, found it tough going as lots of bumps and trying to make sure not to go over on my ankle. Will make more of an effort to run on trails.

Followed by pool swim and sauna.

Total mileage for the week: 28.18. A bit of switching around on the plan but all worked out in the end and feels good to be back to a structured plan.

Trails are awesome! I know you have to take care because the last thing you want is to go over on your ankle but I honestly think my ankles are stronger now because I'm doing more runs on grass/trail. Guess the trick is to build up the off-road time slowly. Then you'll kick butt when it comes to the XC races!

I agree... the perimeter trails in the park are really lovely... and dodging branches, tree roots, etc keeps it interesting. Maybe we should coordinate a nice easy run around the trails :)

I'll have you know it's actually Cabinteely porkrun ;)

You don't need a passport but you do need to show proof of residency in an even numbered or Co. Dublin postcode (D8/10/12/22/24 excluded). We don't want any riff raff littering our park....:pac:

I pulled into the carpark and as i stood out of the car he appeared, he was a cross between Richard Gere in An Officer and a Gentleman and Father Jack from Father Ted, the legend that is TbL. We took in over 6.5 miles along the canal from Fureys to just beyond Longwood Harbour, the conversation never let up the whole way & the run flew by. It was fantastic to have company on a run as i normally run solo.

Not to mention the roses :D
