    Hey lads,

PS4 noob here. Looking to buy one. Best options seemingly available is on Argos which is the base model with ESO free for €370. Had hoped to get one with Batman but seem out of stock everywhere :(

I noticed that there's a 1TB version out next week but is that much extra memory really that important? Also, is there an online subscription fee ala Xbox Live? Thanks :)

I would defo go for the 1TB. I'm forever deleting stuff to make room for new games, every game has to be installed on the hard drive whether it be download or disc, a lot of them are 30/40GB, it fills up in no time.

I'm constantly having to delete stuff because I'm basically all digital this generation. 500gig isn't even close to being enough. Grabbing a 2TB drive soon as I have the money.

Just on the 1TB version about to launch, Gamestop and HMV both have it on pre-order for the same price they are charging for the 500GB model.

With this in mind, Argos could be offering it at a lower price in the next while (if you are suitably patient).

Playstation plus (the xbox live/gold equivalent) is 50 euro a year, but every now and then you might get the subscription / prepaid subscription cards a little cheaper. I'd keep an eye on the Playstation Bargins thread here for both buying the console and subscription packages.

There will be new version of the 500Gb version at €350 standard RRP releasing too. If Argos keep doing deals you may see €300 PS4s in no time.

I've seen Argos regularly undercut the other stores by €30 to €50 and offer a game. So hopefully there is a potential for the revised 500gb console with a game for €300.

(I do not work for Argos, I'm just hoping this is the case, so I might finally make the move from my PS3)

I think it's cross buy? So if you bought the PS3 version this is free.

Yeah it's cross-buy. If you have digitally purchased it already for PlayStation 3, you can download it free for PlayStation 4.

My white controller's anologs seem to be wearing off, however the L2 button doesn't work sometimes and the little plastic part between L1 and L2 is mission would they still replace it since the anologs are peeling off anyways?..

I can't access the Store. It says it's down for maintenance. Does this happen often?

Seems to be an issue with getting connected online to games. Twitter indicates that a large number of people are having trouble. Sony engineers are investigating per Push Square.

Not good considering PSN was down for a couple of hours only 3 days ago.

It's official, Rocket League broke PSN!

    PSN down for me too.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,475 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

absolutely ridiculous how much PSN goes down either for so called maintenance or issues etc. Fair enough when it was free service but now that I've to pay for it like xbox live I demand a similar level of service for it and we're not getting what we pay for..I don't give a rat's ass about free games..put that money towards PSN for god's sake.

The price of games now are crazy €75 for a game.I wait for price drops now can't afford paying them prices.

I thought I was going mad...

    Fifa 16 - €75
    Fifa 16 "Deluxe Edition" - €90!!! :eek::eek::eek::mad::mad:

    Seriously??

I was thinking that they should be banned from releasing a new game every year, and instead should be forced to release DLC/Patches/Updates for free (or maybe at a reasonable price).

But this sh¬t takes the absolute p¬ss...

Anyone remember? (Not saying I do, just asking if anyone else does :) )

That video just makes me want to play those games again:D

But I mean, remember when consoles were being released too quickly, and they all agreed to hold off with new releases for a while...

    EA should be forced to.

Argos will sell it for around 62-65 Euro at launch, shame about the exchange rates these days, even VGP will set you back 57 Euro, I have noticed EA like to charge an extra 5 Euro on to their sports games.

There have been 20 incarnations of Fifa, since the first entry in 1993, in fairness there have been 16 entries in the Assassins Creed franchise since 2007 and 26 different CoD entries since 2003.

I remember with the SNES and Mega Drive being lucky to get 2-3 new games a year and renting everything else or borrowing/swapping from a friend.

    Bring back Italia '90.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,607 ✭✭✭WarZoneBrother

The morale of the story is, if you want to get ripped off go to Gamestop, if you don't shop around some other store will 90% of the time have it cheaper than that rip off merchant!... Surprised Gamestop is still going with their ridiculous pricing and poor trade in offers... GAME always was so much better IMO...

I don't remember ever scoring in that game and FIFA is such a flawed game, but you don't have to fix something if people are willing to buy it every year with no changes.

Get a lead pencil and draw on the hinge between L1/R1 and L2/R2 button, graphite acts as lubricant, do not use WD40, it should stand to reason but people do do it.

I wouldn't. There is exposed electronics in the controller.
