bath and northampton apparently have to pay 250k [sterling] to get faletau released by dragons

Is this the start of transfer fees for in contract players then?

If I remember right Saints did it for George North as well.

In reality 4 year contracts (ah la monoa) will more likely lead to soccer style transfer fees.

Why are 2 clubs paying for him?

Should that be an "or Northampton"?

Leinster did it for Nacewa. They've existed a long time, they're just not that important.

Anyone ever use TruSox? Do they make much difference?

Fabien Pelous and Uga Mola take over at Toulouse

Bordeaux-Bègles have found their successor to Vincent Etcheto with Emile Ntamack named backs coach for next season.

Put on normal socks, lace up your boots tight. Twist them and pull them and check if there is much movement between them and your sock. If there is, buy better fitting boots. Repeat until it is obvious you don't need TruSox.

Nah I kid. I'd say they're much better for running than for rugby. Honestly, I've never known my boots to be "loose" feeling.

My boots never feel loose but every time I take a break from them I find getting back into playing in them is cutting the feet off myself, and particularly this summer - just can't seem to break them in, every week I play tip or tag over the summer it's destroying my toes! Can't walk properly on them for a few days after, and it's effective my step and change of direction whilst playing... So thought I'd give these a shot.

Exactly, that's why I want to find out if it's worth it first.

What studs are you playing on hard ground in? I had a pair of canterbury boots for tag a while back and they destroyed my feet, I had to change to mouldies for hard ground / 3g pitches.

I actually have two pairs of boots now and rotate them, playing 5 tag games between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday night so if I don't I end up with feet in all sorts of pain.

Ah I'm currently using my mouldies but they're still wrecking my feet. Lars year my skin just hardened up after a few weeks but this year it's not happening. Dunno if the ground is extra hard or my what... But might give them a go anyway.

    Get a pair custom made.

Of boots? I'd say that'd cost a fortune! I'll try the socks first. It only really happens in the summer anyway, altho we're getting a 4g pitch so it'll be interesting to see how that effects it.

Summer's a bit of a pain when the pitch is rock hard, it's 33 degrees and you have to wear thick socks but by god it's nothing compared to running barefoot on a synthetic pitch. Like hot coals.

I have a pair and I absolutely love them, I was skeptical at first but they 100% work.

10 years to the day apparently. How time flies, I can still remember the total shock at what I was witnessing at the time.

Love the Freudian slip by D'Arcy in the article linked under that one

“I am absolutely busting a nut to get into the squad, and not just into the squad but into the starting line-up,” says D’Arcy

Was talking to a friend about some of more unusual things seen at rugby matches (Leinster kicking the ball between the posts and the wind blowing it back and ref having to think for a minute if it was allowed) but was trying to find a youtube clip of one of the funniest ones and cannot seem to find it.
Does anyone remember a game where Munster gave away a penalty and then argued it and the ref then asks POC if he wants another 5 yards....?
The player who the penalty was against then says "Yeah" and the look on POC face was just priceless!!! Anyone got a link?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

It was Leamy. POC was captain beside him and gave Leamy a look that could kill. One of the dumbest things I've seen happen in a match.

You should change the way you lace up your boots, it can really make a massive difference. I had terrible problems with my feet being cut up during the summer playing tag, then I was told to use 'heel lock lacing' on my boots. Made some difference.
