On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say I'm a 7. If you put me in a room of people I can generally influence people a bit more than most people can on average.

So how dominant would you be in comparison to most people?

Please note I won't be awarding medals.

Why would you want to influence other people? I don't tend to surround myself with people who can't think for themselves.

I used to mentor people who have been in trouble with the law, had a bad upbringing ect.. Used to teach them basic life skills and help them gain useful qualifications. Some of them were arseholes but I never failed to get them to listen. So, yeah Im a 9 I'd say

You can't empower another person nor boost their ego really. You can't get that from outside.

But on a serious note. Confidence is a major factor

Dunno how dominant I am but I am way too smart for this ****e.

I'm very non-dominant. I don't want to dominate others. But I am equally adamant that nobody will dominate me. Some dominant people are quite surprised by the second bit. They put me in the quiet, easy to push around category, and almost get angry when I refuse to conform, like they are entitled to obedience from me, it's the natural order of things or something.

That's actually how most people are.

Sadly, you have never been in the presence of a truly inspiring leader.

If you think about your social circle there is usually some individuals whose lead everyone else are more likely to follow.

And they tend to grow to expect it.

The difference between dominant and domineering is just a question of the degree of insistence on compliance. I don't want any of their dominance.

    Adjective vrs present participle.

No in reality bullying vrs trying to argue you are right or simply accepting others will not agree.

I have to watch myself on this. I tend to get into lengthy debates I can be goaded.

This thread is one epic goading session. I try to use humor to diffuse.

Domineering people feel admitting they are wrong makes them weak. Dominant people don't.

It's not about brainwashing or who is convinced ...we can all be duped. Dominant people fight for the greater good or try to. Domineering people do it only for themselves and what they want. In fact frequently dominant people are most strong when fighting for the greater good.

To be dominant you need good character. In reality it's a work in progress because you are always trying to work on that.

Interesting question. The role of the fool in dominance hierarchy is quite a fascinating one.

I agree with the second part of that statement whole heartedly. I think that the best dominants have good character. I hope at least I am right. It is something I think of as being part and parcel of real leadership.

I don't think you see how social dynamics work, there's always some people who have more of an influence on the group than others.

What post of mine indicates that I am unaware of that?
