Best (any) type of hedging for heavy clay/wet soil?

    Water doesn't stand in it all the time but on occasion plus the soil is heavy clay.

    Any recommendations on a hedging that would work for me? I do have some grissilini growing close to the area and it seems to be doing ok but.... don't really want more.

    Hornbeam perhaps? I'd say choices are limited, ideally it would be evergreen though.

    Hornbeam definitely works in clay soil. Have planted it here and it did well.

    But, if there is regular standing water I'd be worried.

    From experience no. I had Laurel in a heavy clay soil and I didn't work. They all died. I planted laurel elsewhere and they are fine so nearly sure it was the soil. Have hornbeam in there now and they are going well.
