We are renovating a 1960's semi, and builder asked do we want coving, the style we are going for is minimalist, Scandinavian, so I'm thinking probably no coving, but I worry about future painting jobs being messy at the join from wall to ceiling, and if there are paint cracks in the future, whats the general thoughts on coving, are there ones available that suit contemporary design?

No coving for a scandi interior I think. Good workmanship now will ensure that there is not too much difficulty in the future.
Presumably you will have light coloured walls with the scandi design so not too much contrast anyway to show.

    No to coving.

We do our own painting and have no issues with the cut line. Frog tape is your friend
