Nope, you were closer before. Don't want to narrow it down too much yet but will say with Besançon you were in the right Région. Need to look for smaller places.

Is it in Franche Comte? Just want to confirm that you are talking about the province or is it the general region of France?

Yes this is correct, in Franche-Comte and Besancon was a good guess - it was actually very close but not the exact location.

    Fair enough.

The place was Musée des Maisons Comtoises, Nancray (Mehaffey1 was by far the closest).

A collection of old traditional famehouses moved from various places in the Franche-Comté region and Switzwerland and rebuilt one piece at a time in a park outside the village of Nancray.

Ok, it's a day old so I'll give a clue.......

It's less than 1 KM from a location that was posted here in the past few weeks.

    Not France

It is an Eiffel bridge though (according to Wikipedia).

EDIT: Just checked Wiki. The page on the town beside the bridge says it was built under the direction of Eiffel, however there's nothing on Eiffel's Wiki page about the bridge. So not sure what ye want to make of that. I suppose you can't always rely on Wiki.

    That's it alright.

The metal strip on top of the bridge is a railway. Both ends of the bridge also have the old customs and police huts built into the stone bridge supports, and there's a plaque on one of the supports half way down. I walked across it about 20 years ago, seriously frightening when a train goes across!
