I didn't agree with his stance, but fair play to him for at least being magnanimous in defeat. I doubt many who ran the 'No' campaign will be as gracious.

Quin has conceded, it's done, it's yes. Well bloody done Ireland! Logic, fairness and compassion has trumped lies, scaremongering and red herrings.

Must check out the christianity forum later on

It was tight but I'd say a yes vote among Christian posters shaded it. A fact made all the more ironic when posters like you and other Christian no voters assumed that people voting yes weren't actually Christian.

I hope John Waters has friends and family around him to help him through this.

The meltdown from the no nutters should be good craic

Rónán Mullen has gone a bit quiet on the twitter machine alright. Looking forward to his response.

63% yes 47% no. Amazing achievement from Limerick. :D

Limerick City 63% Yes, suburbs in excess of 70% Yes

Donegal and South Kerry will fall behind the rest of us :D any chance we could break them off and let them float away?

First bit of information about Donegal North East is out with a Yes so far. No mention of South West yet.

What a relief, I was worried about the NO surge in the polls, glad to see the country is moving forward

Don't give him any credit. He is a hate filled spiteful little man.

Like that time he asked Dil Wickramasinghe (sp?) "who's the father?"

    It's not a referendum, it's a social revolution. :)

After being on tenterhooks for weeks I can't quite believe it. I'm so proud to be Irish today and so delighted for those of you who can now stop dreaming and finally start thinking in real terms of your wedding days. Its a wonderful day for you and your families. This Irish mammy now has equality for both her children, I'm overwhelmed. Thank you all so much for making this happen. For those who were against this I hope in time you can see your fears were unfounded.

I'm proud too. All of the young people so afraid to come out about their sexuality can now hold their heads high. It's a great day for the Irish people to see such a forward thinking future from a place which before only held bigotry.
