I'm posting from a bus that's travelling along the Cabra Road right now. Every 100 metres or so, there's a Vote No poster with with biblical verses on them saying homosexuality is against God.

Oh, and to top it off, there was Kermit's bigotry last night.

there is one on the tralee to killarney road that says 2 bulls never made a herd, but if you turn that over, what about two heifers,
do what i do, just laugh it off, both sides have to have their posters up, it is the domocratic way to go,

I learned of 3 no voters today that surprised me. One was a youngish teacher. Their reasons were flawed imho but its a worry.

I may have missed an opportunity here. But maybe we can salvage the situation by asking him how come there are still monkeys of humans evolved from monkeys.

I'm not worried about low turnout. I'm worried that those who are more likely to vote in referenda, the elderly and catholic vote are more likely to vote no.

Only 16% of the population are over 65 years of age.
Many of the over 65's I know are voting Yes too.

i remember the time of the referendum on divorce some yrs ago, one of my neighbours came to me and asked me to vote no, her husband had walked out on her, she was hard to live with anyway, i could not blame him,
the no side was saying all kinds of things that none of came through, scaremongering
    my answer to her was,
there are people living in misery bieng tied down, and the only way to free them and bring happiness to them is the yes, and i am glad i did that,
    now this time round,
i see people miserable and feeling let let out or down, and i am skirting to yes also,
and for the benefit of a poster earlier,
    i am a catholic,
    and over 50.
so keep ageism out of it

Yeah I hear the scrapping of the bottom of the barrel here for decency.

and note the sheer inability when even writing fiction the creator of this filth struggles to say anything remotely positive about homosexuality "I Think they love each other and are very kind to me"

cause it would be too far for the no campaign to even admit that homosexuals clearly love each other and even worse that they love their adopted child even in a fictional letter.

I've seen this story about a couple of Kiwi lads getting married for a laugh. Couldn't find anything about it on any of the NZ news sites I regularly view. If anyone has a link I would appreciate it.

They certainly wouldn't be the first Kiwis to get married for something other than love. I knew several people who got married (hetero-sexual) at university because you got a bigger student allowance from the government if you were married. These were people that were not in a relationship, in fact some of them had boyfriends or girlfriends.

I also know of Kiwis and Aussies who have gotten married for visa reasons in the UK, Ireland and other countries.

I guess what I'm saying is using the example of a couple of lads taking the piss in NZ as a reason not to allow SSM is very weak. If anything we are an example for doing away with marriage altogether :D

There was one thing: the only child not laughing at the child with two dads had two mums. Subliminal messaging by the yes campaign I think! The only children to be brought up decently are the ones raised by gay parents..... Woooo.....

I live in a typical country town and have being listening to people regarding the referendum with the past while.
If you asked me back in January after the first Clare Byrne live debate I would have said it would have passed comfortably. However since then I've been listening to people and reading letters in the local paper I've changed my mind.
The people I've encountered are just against homosexuality in general and this is mainly because of religious teachings. If they had there way sodomy would still be illegal because it's against God. These people will never change there mind until a member of there own family comes out to them and they relies that gay people exist and are not just on TV. I find these people often hide behind the rights of the child.
Then there is a homopobia amongst men. I find. Some of these people are highly educated. The level of homopobia I find is higher amongst the over fifties. The language I've heard and the hatered towards gay people is rotten school yard behavior.
Then there is a small minority of people who a voting for the rights of the child. I find tough when a lot of these people do there research and see how there voting NO won't effect the child they tend to change there mind. A lot of these people were confused by the posters and got worried that of they voted yes that gay couples were going to get loads of children.
Then there two gay men in the news who are campaigning for a NO vote. One thing we can say about these men is there not afraid of attention. I actually feel sorry for them because there involved in organisations who are against gay couples have any rights. If these guys set up there own group "Gay people against same sex marriage" I'd have a lot more respect for them.
Then there are the people in the media why are voting No Ronan Mullen, David Quinn Jim (why can't I call them fairies) Wales, Fegal Quinn, Mattie Mcgrath. These are some of the main people campaigning for a No vote. All these people were against civil partnerships. This show me what they think of gay couples. If they had there way gay couples who have being in relationships for decades would have no rights at all.
People voting No because of Gay relationships being taught in school. Do I honestly think teachering about Gay relationships in school will turn kids Gay. I don't. I went to school with about 35 lads and four of them came out as Gay was I surprised that they came out Not really. Also, a big difference I find with children starting school now compared to when I was in school is. Lots of them have Gay uncles, Aunts, neighbours in relationships are normal to them. Telling them in school that these relationships are less is wrong in my opinion. If you also have a problem with your kids seeing Gay relationshipa I'd recommend that you keep them away from TV, newspapers and the Internet. I'd recommend you home school your children and sensor everything they do.
I can't say how this vote will go tomorrow. The one thing I can say tough is this referendum won't be passed easily if you want it to be passed get out and vote Yes.
    Sorry for the rant.

My daughter's teacher, in a catholic school, has been wearing her yes badge every day. When I first saw it I expected it to be gone by the end of the day tbh with it being a catholic school but still there a few weeks on now!

This infection of the bearded one on the video from the No side is getting bad. I opened up the link to "Sounds of Nature - Bird Song (no music) 180 minutes" and HE popped up again. Thankfully his video had the "end" after 3 seconds option before I could listen to something peaceful. Maybe the net has been tuned into the NO side mindset "you will be brainwashed".

Worth bearing in mind, as it has come up a few times, that bookies' odds mean nothing more than their estimation of how they can most effectively convince the punter to have a punt. Nothing more, nothing less.

The odds changing means only that they miscalculated just how effectively a particular price would convince people to bet. Nothing more, nothing less.

No she was a primary school teacher. 3rd class I think. I am sure she dabbles in the supernatural in school.

Maybe there's hope for BA of the Irish Times. Can you tune your dad into BA's wavelenght?

    It might be NSFW.
