How to get land acreage from a map?

Looking to see if there's an easy way of finding out the acreage of a piece of land from the OSI map or something similar?

If google maps is clear in your area use http://www.acme.com/planimeter/ ,zoom in click all around the boundry and the area appears at bottom of the page

Or just measure in Google maps itself.

Go to the area to be measured, right click on it and select measure distance. Click along the boundary and it displays the total area in square metres in the top left of your map.
