Windows 8 won't access my iPhone t's photos.

I'm using a Microsoft Surface RT tablet which is running windows 8. Any time i plug in my iPhone 5, the tablet will recognise it as a directory the same as any removable device but when I try to access the phone's stored photo memory I get an A-Z list but there is nothing in these folders? There all empty...

I had thought it may be any issue with the tablet as opposed to the operating system but recently tried accessing the photo's on a full laptop running 8.1 and had the same issue.

I don't believe it's an issue with my iPhone because I have accessed the phones photo memory through a different laptop running Visa Home Premium many times in the past.

It has to be an issue with windows 8\8.1

Any suggestions on how I can fix this would be gratefully appreciated...

I think what's happening here is that the iPhone doesn't trust any computer other than your original Vista one. Normally, when you plug the phone in to a new device, you will get a Trust/Do Not Trust prompt on the iPhone itself. If you choose Trust, it should mount the photos on the PC. Make sure the phone is unlocked and at the home screen before plugging it in.

If you don't get this prompt on the phone, uninstall the device from Device Manager and plug it back in again.
