I lasted about 2 minutes until he made an awful Miz joke.

Depends on your tolerance level for wacky Mick as opposed to serious Mick. I have none left.

I've just watched all of Halloween havoc 1999 which was the first PPV with Vincent Russo as the writer. Jesus wcw was in a bad way then. Nothing or very little mad sense. The main event(or last match on anyway) was sting and Goldberg and the commentators CLEARLY said at the start that it wasn't for the title yet the title changed hands.

Then you had the finish to the flair ddp match which was sting hogan confusing as Charles Robinson ****ed up by not counting the three count yet ddp won.

Also the sound levels are horrible. Music starts playing but you can barely hear it at times. And for the love of the baby Jesus why isn't there video packages before the matches ? Why ?

Sid bleeds like Guerrero did at judgement day 2004 in his match with Goldberg for the U.S. Title.

I'm glad I wasn't watching wcw at all then.

    According to Wikipedia:
    • Originally, Goldberg was awarded the title following the match.
    • The following night on Nitro, Sting declared that he never agreed to defend the title and called James J Dillon to the ring to explain.
    • Dillon then announced the title was being vacated due to Sting's attack on referee Charles Robinson during the unsanctioned match and announced a tournament for the vacant title to conclude at the following month's Mayhem pay-per-view event.
So your standard "What the hell were they thinking?" WCW booking.

I got the Network before WrestleMania and I'm struggling with it. None of the material on offer is really grabbing me.

Jericho's podcast is decent but I think it's safe to say the envelope isn't going to be pushed.

I think what I find most annoying is the lack of gripping and interesting new material. Seeing the first season of legends house and tough enough does not interest me at all, neither does this countdown crap they've probably done on their YT channel.

The only thing that's a plus for me is the ppvs for 12.99 a month but I'm not even sure that's enough to hold me. I'm going to give it one more month.

The PPVs and NXT are worth the cost alone in my opinion. Everything else is a bonus. If they do more exclusive Network content like the KOTR tournament then it would help make the Nerwork more 'must have'

I never got to see a lot of the WCW/ECW stuff, good and bad, so having it available on the network is good. Not that I get around to watching it all that often. Plus all the early WWF stuff.

Watching December to Dismember having never seen it before, and knowing it only by its (less than stellar) reputation. Highlight so far was Styles' line "You gotta wonder at a man who wants to sit on his own face."

So they are bringing back the Elimination Chamber at the end of the month as a Network Exclusive. Brilliant idea. Really gives an incentive to get a subscription with all these exclusives.

Wonder will it be a full PPV or just the chamber match itself? Still, looking forward to it either way

I'm curious as to what's going to be on the line, either title or #1 contendership?

Christ I thought it would have been on Apple TV in UK/ROI all along since it launched in the UK.

    Chromecast please? :(

    Ya Chromecast is badly needed.

Anyone using a Roku to watch it?

Network is terrible today, stopping every ten seconds!

Oh good, it isn't just me then. Was trying to watch the 96 Rumble but I gave up during the first match.

Ah I thought it was my wifi but the on demand stuff has been shocking. It's been dropping in quality and stopping. Now my wifi wasn't as good today but still should have been okay to watch the network.

I'm going through 2001 atm. Up to king of the ring today. I had a day off Friday so took advantage of it.

I think it was Spring Stampede 1999 that I remember being decent and one of the last good shows they had but the wheels were visibly buckling throught 1999.

Check out Bash at the Beach 1999 for some weird **** - they held a "hardcore invitational" thing in an actual junkyard which resulted in many injuries. You couldn't even see what was going on as they kept cutting to a helicopter shot.

No it goes from the rumble to wrestlemania with most of it being of the behind the scenes stuff being on the Sunday of mania. I liked it and his family seem really close.
I think I'll save that for when he has his next one on one match for the championship, so I can really convince myself that he can do it. I like to do that. I was watching the Dusty Rhodes vs. Lex Luger cage match for the United States Championship from Starrcade 1987 this morning. There was blood, obviously.

Will it be good though ? I've heard all the parts of Heymans conversation with Austin including the lost one they found. I've also seen the documentary on heyman. So what new will I learn about Paul heyman I don't already know ?

I'm not really up to speed with Paul Heymans career but is he a controversial figure? Will there be anything "must see" about this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I'd say it'll be worth a watch, because he's an entertaining character both in and out of kayfabe.

Heyman never seems to care about being fired by vince he could really say it as it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 908 ✭✭✭Palo Alto

Plus he might tell another different version as to whether WWE bankrolled ECW or not!

It will be a great watch. I hope it covers new ground not already touched on the podcast episodes. An hour talking about thecDangerouscAlliance would be fab...

Yeah him and Vince are chalk and cheese. When Heyman was booking Smackdown around 2002/03 they clashed over booking and attitudes. Stephanie hates him afaik. There was a massive falling out over December to Dismember 2006. Many wrestlers look up to Heyman but he strictly has an on-air role only today.

He pissed off a lot of people throughout the 90s such as swerving the NWA, short changing wrestlers on pay and I think hevhas heat with the Dudleys over the rights to that gimmick/name.

He's great at worked shoot interviews, his appearances on Austin's podcasts were very good as was the recent DVD documentary
