Laying cobble lock paving

I am laying cobble lock this weekend and was wondering how deep my hardcore should be? Also does anybody recommend putting down lean mix first for a stronger base? Thanks B

Is it a driveway or path.? If the ground is good, 3 to 4 inches (whacked) Sand down and whack again, then start your screeding....
