Yes that's true. As the only reason for voting no I have heard so far is..

No... Because I'm a homophobic bigot

No... Because my religion tells me gay men (but not lesbians) will not go to heaven

No... Because I like to discriminate against minorities

If the Yes vote wins, will it mean that it'll be discrimination if Flahavan's Porridge don't have same sex couples in at least 50% of their breakfast ads?

I think that's being inserted into the constitution as a subsection, yes.

The aggressive behaviour of some of the Yes supporters e.g. tearing down No posters, attacking anyone with an opposing view etc. are putting off a lot of the soft Yes voters. I dont trust the polls as it seems to be unpopular to give the view that you might vote No so people wont tell the truth to the pollsters

Can people stop saying this. The No side seem to be able to spout any of amount of bullsh!t they like free of consequence and its apparently an attack upon their free speech if the Yes side destroys their non existent argument. The yes side fight for rights = attacking the no side, the 'victims' in all this. No side spouting drivel = having their deserved opinion which they apparently can't be challenged on as they're entitled to hold opinions with no evidence whatsoever to back up said opinions

Ive seen one too many posters coming on here , completely ignoring blatantly homophobic posters who were calling homosexuals unnatural, and then having the nerve to call the Yes side aggressive for defending themselves from insults as such.

RedC in particular is very reliable.

On the Yes side, they might be underestimating the registration and turnout too though. I have a sense this is really igniting interest and intention to vote.

It's a bit hard to call the % but, I'd still say it will pass.

And you can say goodbye to "Daddy Bear and Mammy Bear" going for a walk in the woods while the porridge cooled.

Are you protestant? Or did you quote from the kings bible by accident.

The original text in Hebrew says if a man lies (has sex with) a man in a woman's bed, it is an abomination.

The bible also says if you drink alcahol there is a special place reserved in hell for you, along with gay men. Wine' in Hebrew means grape juice, not alcahol. Which is widely misinterpreted.

If you believe in the bibles teachings, and you drink. You are as much a sinner as a homosexual. So much so, Corinthians 6:9 refers to people that drink and homosexuals as sinners, in the same sentence.

Funny. But don't ridicule a book people put so much faith in, you are only helping his bigoted cause.

TwoShedsJackson is not ridiculing it, he's quoting it. That's exactly what it says.

im a 30ish yr old male. i never understood homosexuality, but this vote made me think. i have to admit i am somewhat of a homophobic, i have and still do make gay jokes. i can tend to be a complete asshole as my long suffering wife will attest. i have one gay friend, who i never speak to anymore, not caus hes gay, caus he moved away, i prob should make more of an effort but so should he, i just assumed he was happy living his new gay life. i would have like to discuss this with him actually.
so, im gonna vote yes. why ? well i might be a an asshole, but we live in a free country, so if im free to be an asshole then they should be free to be gay and marry who ever the funk they want. t he fact that my formally "normal" friend is now in doneygall sleeping with another man, hasnt made one bit of difference to my life has made me see it would be stupid to vote no, there are plenty of other ways i can continue to be a asshole in everyday life.

    I love this post!

LEVITICUS 11:12. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

The old chestnut, I know, but perhaps you can explain why we can still eat prawns but not be gay?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Oh dear people really need to stop quoting a book that was written long after the mans death and has been translated so many times it has to be wrong. A good read thats it. I say that as a christian not a very good one but a christian anyway.

It also amazes me we have to have a referendum to entitle equality anyway pathetic the bill should have just been put into law

Just went and found it in the new international version. Not quite a direct translation from the Hebrew but it could easily be interpreted that way and you were in fact right. My bad.

LEVITICUS 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death

Leviticus 21:17 "For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God. No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; no man with a crippled foot or hand, or who is a hunchback or a dwarf, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles"

Leviticus 12:5 "But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days."

Leviticus 20:9 "For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him."

Everyone is put to death in Leviticus. It's one of, if not the, most insane books in the bible. Do you really wanna use it as reasoning?

And tattoos, and shellfish, and wearing clothes made of more than one material, and shaving your beard, and having anything to do with a woman who is menstruating or has recently been menstruating. There are also about 3 paragraphs on consulting your priest about mildewed clothes and how to clean said clothes. The bible has 10 times as much to say about mildew as homosexuality.

Also, the bible bans Christmas trees.
