Excel 2013 Number issue

    When I values like 300, 400, 5000, on a fresh blank sheet, they will show up as 3, 4, and 5 respectively. I have Excel 2010 on my other laptop, and it does not exhibit this behaviour. How do I correct the issue in Excel 2013?

    If you right click on one and select Properties - what format do you see?

    Check number formatting for #, , it should be something to do with display a thousands separator , delete the #, . Sorry I can't be more specific, quite out of practice with excel and don't even have it on my current machine.

    Yup - select Format cells

    You should see Number, up to you how many decimal places.

    If it wasn't for the 5000 I'd have said check for percentage format

    if all else fails change to a general format
    or try multiply the cell x 1 to see what it's read as - if it's not a number it won't multiply
