Good programming books?

    Im looking to buy some programming books, Can you recommend any good ones for either Java(Standalone or Android included) or C++? Have a small amount of knowledge in Java but want to start in c++! Thanks.

    This seems to be easy to follow and covers quite a bit in C++ from an OOP perspective.

    Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++ by Bjarne Stroustrup will teach you C++. It was written by the creator of the language and doesn't assume you have any previous programming experience.

    C++ Primer by Stanley Lippman is a monster of a book, over 900 pages. It assumes you have previous programming experience and will teach you everything about the language.
