but... random in that context doesn't necessarily mean 'strange'? :p

Unless you have been privy to all the such statements that I've heard, how can you make that assertion?

    "Sorry, bus full"

    :(

Yes, and even more annoying when it is far from full. A driver refused to allow about 6-8 people on recently, at a stop, and there were visibly empty seats on the bus, as well as standing space.

People (woman aged 15-25 are the worst offenders) who say, "that's so random" - :( STRANGE! The word you're looking for is STRANGE!

    or "totally",

    "OMG" or even worse
    "oh.. (big pause)..
    My.. (big pause)
    GOD!",

"totes" ..one I heard today "adorbs"! WTF!?

My all time hate is the word "like" being inserted 25 times in one sentence. FFS, take a breath, form a coherent sentence in your head and then execute it with normal intonation.

    Christ!

    (I feel better now thanks :) )

    I have ;)

It's been commonly used in such context for years. Sometimes means things that mean slightly different to strange, hence doesn't 'necessarily' mean strange :D

Patchouli oil. It's awful, not so much a scent as an assault on the sinuses. When I rule the world it will be outlawed and wearing it shall be a hanging offence.

But surely the TA is someone saying "random" when it is clearly not random, just strange. In which case, just say "That's strange", and save "random" for random stuff. No?

People playing games on their phones on public transport. For Christ's sake your adults not 6 year olds. It really grates on my nerves listening to the noisy beeps and sounds of the games. Oh, and invititations to play Candy Crush, would people please fcuk right off and stop sending me those. I have zero interest in computer games.

I actually heard someone once say, "O to the M to the G" - if I'd had a gun.... I wouldn't have wasted a good bullet on them....

One of my three (adult) children was at this caper for a while. I think it is one the very rare occasions when one should be permitted to "physically enlighten" your children:D

I blame a lot of it on that fcuking "home and Away"

    "Would you like to talk?"
    "Do you need to talk?"

"No, piss off and mind yer own business!"
