Sounds like your dish needs re-aligning. Was it raining when the channels went?

No, fine clear evening. It's often been pissing down and blowing a gale and there hasn't been a problem. Signal strength and intensity usually up around 70-90%

Really? Didn't know other boxes had this problem.
How do you save and reload a channel list mate?

its best to make a back up and reload it when needed i seen this happen in the 250 and 150 thread

I've downloaded the latest firmware and will install it this evening, see if that makes any difference.

I'd be interested to hear if it solves the problem, I know of at least one other box with what sounds like the same issue.

    Right, I think I know what's wrong.
I installed the update last week and rescanned. Everything was fine until I recorded Grays Anatomy for the missus tonight then most of the Sat channels disappeared. Then I remembered that the last time they all disappeared was this time last week, also when I recorded Grays Anatomy for the missus.
So either my box has an aversion to Grays Anatomy, which is understandable or perhaps it has an internal fault?

What device are you recording onto ? Maybe try a different one as a test ?

Two different devices. Last week I recorded onto a USB 3.0 stick and last night to a portable HDD.

Hi lads, first post on Boards in a long time...
I followed this thread and managed to update my 252 to the patched firmware found on this thread, 100% working, no problems... I do however have one question, well 2 actually.

1: is it possible to add my own splash screen to the firmware at boot-up?

2: is it possible to remove the youporn link from the firmware alltogether or replace it with something else?

I did a bit of dumping and editing firmware from nokia phones years ago but these devices are all new to me so wonder if we still use hex editing progs or what would be used nowadays to edit firmware?

    thanks in advance

    Steven

does the youporn work ? you can lock it with a Pin code

the splash is added by the polish coder who packages the patched version, it would be possible but would be a lot of work

Eh, no, in fact I have yet to see any of those links work, but thats ok, I was just concerned if the kids were to click on it at some point and it did work.

Ah, I see, I as a newbie to these boxes, assumed there was some magic editor like the one for sorting the channel list that would allow the end user to change the splash screen... not to worry, both questions answered, Thank you.

Would anyone have an up to date channel list for the Ariva 252 combo with the latest firmware? The most recent I found on this thread was from Tony (post 16) but it's over a year old (other than some strange patched one posted recently?).

    Here,s one I'm working on , its needs food network added/changed 11426V and Tru tv 12552 v 22000 http://www.mediafire.com/download/l7xcsck2je86g2i/Ariva252_May1st2015.abs

As always if you see a binary mismatch message do not proceed

Sorry its not finished but ran out of 252's on Friday.

OK Tony I added the two transponders you mentioned and the new channels are added at the back end. Here's the file:
    http://www.mediafire.com/download/98z7fpjomk1llsv/Ariva252_May4th2015a.abs

I note the firmware in your file is the older one. I plan to update to the latest firmware per these instructions from an old thread. Any reason it migh't work?

-Open ariva editor and open your channel list.
-Go to file export and save it as a udf (user database).
    -Close arivaeditor and open again.
    -Open udf file.
-Then goto file export and save it over the new firmware abs file.
-This now has new firmware and your channel list.

Yes using slightly older firmware, sorry should have mentioned that. Some of the guys were reporting that there be a repetition of an earlier problem so I held off. Rather than use the editor you could just create a channel list .bin with the box itself and then save it over the new firmware as user database. That way you can check for any binary mismatch warnings.

    1. Yes (there are certain limits for image file size - max127k). I have replaced the bootlogos succesfully on the Fergusons before (but it has been a while). The files are called bootlogo.m2v and radiologo.m2v. The small windows program is called Ariva patchlogo will let you patch with the replacement m2v files (static or moving img files). So you would get the latest firmware file for your model box (abs) file from your box, rename it software.abs and use the patchlogo tool, then flash it back to your box by sticking it on a usb stick and using the allcode+bootloader option.

    2. FirmwareDecrypter/ ALI M3606 tool. You would have to know what you are doing after that.....
