Despite the German flag on one of the buildings, it looks like the style of architecture on the Pacific coast in California or maybe Oregon somewhere.

Also it looks like bits of sand in the parking areas so maybe very close to the beach?

It's on the coast, yes. But not California or Oregon.

I think that's a Belgian flag by the colour combinations!

    Afraid not.

Van looks like a VW, so I'll rule out USA. They drive on the right so I'll rule out Aus/NZ/SA. Sign on the right looks a bit French, as do bricks at bottom of building on left.

    Western coast of France ?

Could also be the north of Spain.

You're correct - you an rule out the USA. And despite appearances, it's not the western coast of France. But as mentioned above, it's a coastal town - the local lighthouse is just out of camera view.

    Canada ?

    Or Europe ?

    Eliminating entire continents now?! :p

Not Canada or Europe. It's big enough to have been used as the setting for (the remake of) a TV series.

    South Africa somewhere?

    Well done.

Very surreal place to be - it's like being in small town Germany, in the desert. Was used as the location fro the remake of 'The Prisoner' a few years back.

Yay! I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to post images as my number of posts is quite low, but I'll attempt it (might have to wait till lunch time), and if it doesn't work, someone else can have a go.

Think you need 50 posts to post an image or a link. But you should be able to PM someone else the link and let them post for you.

Drop me a PM - I'll post the link on your behalf.

    Somewhere in Japan - Kyoto?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭kyomi

Yes, it's Japan, but not Kyoto. It's on the same island, though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,656 ✭✭✭✭Tokyo

    Osaka?

    Hiroshima

Afraid not - and direction-wise, each guess is getting colder...

East side of the island judging by the flow of the river ?

Bridge looks newish, anywhere near the 2011 Tsunami ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 126 ✭✭kyomi

It's a bit further south than the tsunami region, but also inland.

A hint: if you turned to face the river in the other direction, you would see a World Heritage site right in front of you.
