Of course it was and I am not your son but there is every chance your young enough to be mine.
Also to be straight with you it would take a lot more than a rant from you to make me feel threatened.
I was also not serious in thinking I am your father.

Are you a robot or something? (also a joke about how literal you take things - I don't think you an actual robot)

Pretty sure I've had to explain to explain to you before that I don't particularly expect you to enjoy jokes at your expense, but thanks for the advice.

No mention of the other draw that you lads got the other day? Hibs, Hearts and QoS to play in the next few games also. Not looking good.

As regards the H and F stuff, ffs lads grow up, all of you. Call each other whatever the f**k you want, just don't do it on Boards.

I do take issue with Sevco being offensive though, I mean seriously?!?!?!?

Paul I suggest you read Gavs post and as a mod surely you respect what he is saying about discussing it and I take issue that the regular Bears on here use the F word love you to point it out to me Paul

Yeah, I'm not going to use Sevco to goad any of you, that's the message right? But I'm just surprised that someone would have complained about it, that's all. I mean you might as well say "no banter in the Rangers thread" full stop.

Anyway what do you reckon on another season in the Championship? I think it'd be very damaging to you in terms of holding onto players/attracting new players, investment etc.. Not surprised really to be honest, thought the steam train through the leagues would come to a halt when Hearts and Hibs dropped down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 974 ✭✭✭Intifada

It's not just Hearts & Hibs that have taken points off them remember.

Obviously times are bad for them (are we allowed say that? let me know if it annoys you and we can add it to the list of stuff we can't post) but I think they'll be ok come the end of the season. As long as they finish 4th or better, they'll be taken care of. Good thing the SPFL introduced these generous play-offs eh :)

Is the "F" word Fenian? I take issue with the term Fenian being described as derogatory. Maybe it means something else in Glasgow, but they really should be educated on it. The Fenian's were a great movement, did a lot to lay the groundwork for Irish Independence.

Not Fenian precisely but the word that usually follows it.

I propose we ban the use of describing the league Rangers play in as the championship as it reminds Rangers fans of where they are.

Shocking so it is, taking away the Celtic fans civil liberites in such a fashion - must be bluenose mods, they've infiltrated everything that lot, everything.

The Fenians were a great bunch of lads, wouldn't hear a bad word said about them.

My tea mug tells me I'm an unrepentant Fenian bastard ..... Who do I report this to?
Should I bring it to the tea and cakes forum mod... Or the total lack of banter forum mod?... I need advice.

This thread is for discussing Ranger FC. It is not for discussing moderation, it is not for discussing what terms are or are not insulting and it is not for "banter". I've already handed out a few cards and I'm perfectly happy to hand out a few more if folks continue to post similar to the above. If anyone has a problem with this keep it to PM, any posts regarding moderation in thread will be carded.

Back to the football so... Rangers are going through a huge slump in form the Championship at the moment, I think it's 1 win in the last 6 games, that's hardly the form of a club that wants to survive and prosper in the top league.

How do Rangers fans see it, are you confident of promotion under McCall? Can he turn it round?

Don't think the Rangers lads want to talk football tbh. Too busy being offended. I tried - twice - earlier today, and got one reply from a Celtic fan. :pac:

    Quite happy to talk football.

Slump is an understatement and right now we'll be lucky to finish third, meaning we'll need to beat Hibs and whoever finishes 11th, providing we manage to beat probably QOS in the first game and I just don't think we have the stomach for it.

We probably played better football against Alloa than we have all season, but ridiculous defending and a total lack of fitness cost us.

McCall has been in a week now so needs to start making big decisions like dropping McCulloch, Law, Miller and good with the younger boys like Murdoch, Walsh, Sinnamon, Hardie etc.

I do not see us going up, so go with the boys that want to be there now and bin every out of contract player in the summer.

Did you expect to struggle as much TB? I'm surprised at how bad Rangers have been up to know, thought there'd be more fight in them. Knew Hearts would win the league, but for Rangers to be so far away from them is a surprise.

I do agree it's time for the old dogs to be let go though. And bringing players back a 2nd time rarely works either, regardless of how much the player and club talk it up. Miller and Boyd? Time to go.

Its been coming since division 3, watching players confidence drain as they struggled to get results over and over again.
I had hoped that the Hearts/Hibs factor in the championship might perk them up a little, old rivalries and that feeling of nearing the top again to spur them on but they were too far gone, the whole system had collapsed on itself and the first day defeat to Hearts put the final nail in the coffin.

As for McCall, its a no win situation for him.

Not as much, I always thought it would be tough this season and while the players need to take some responsibility I believe the blame lies solely with McCoist, Durrant, McDowall and McCulloch for how far the standards have fallen. Players refusing to train, choosing to train how and when they like, turning up for training on Christmas Day and deciding they don't want to be their and going home after 15 minutes because it was cold and they couldn't be bothered.

It's clear that team is seriously off the pace in terms of fitness and that comes down to the standard of training, and they were allowed to get away with it under McCoist, already McCall is starting to change training and how they train but it isn't going to have much of an impact this season, and too many of the players simply don't care anymore. Young Tom Walsh and Andy Murdoch have been in the side recently and have been a breath of fresh air, along with Vuckic from Newcastle.

Players like Nicky Clark and Darren McGregor have came in and work their socks off but when there's **** around them earning 5-8k a week who can't be arsed it's frustrating.

I feel Rangers missed a big opportunity in the 3rd division to blood youth players and build them up into a solid team rather than signing/keeping over paid & over the hill players.

Rangers had & probably still do have a strong youth setup with a lot of talented players easily capable of getting them through the first 2 years in the lower leagues. This season should have been the first year they were looking to sign a few experienced players to add to the youth rather than relying on burnt out players with no real interest aside from collecting their wages

According to a friend from Glasgow, who's a Rangers* fan, a lot of the U20s are out of contract this season too and are looking to get out too.

That ship has sailed either way, the time to concentrate on the youth players was 3 years ago rather than buying players like Templeton, Black & keeping McCullough etc.

The Rangers youths would have walked Div 3 & 2 without the big money contracts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,014 ✭✭✭Eirebear

    Rangers*

Seriously. Just type Rangers, it won't actually hurt you and even if you don't believe it to be the same club, its the name the team plays under.
That just makes you come across a bit childish.

Thing is though, the idea that we were an old squad in division 3 is actually a bit of a misconception. I remember doing the maths at the time, and once you took McCulloch, Alexander & Bocanegra out of the equation the average age of the squad was well below 24.
The blame lies squarely with the coaching staff who saw fit to stick with the 'stars' when they underperformed rather than looking to their understudies IMO.
