    Right, it's Irkutsk Oblast in the far East of Russia.

    Googled and searched a lot of Eastern Europe and Western Russia and then I was like... doesn't have to be Western Russia... so I went out east and then I saw an Irkutsk and had to check it cos I've played a lot of the computer game Civilisation 2 in my time and in that game, you conquer a whole lot of Irkutsks if you invade Russia

    So yeah... googling stuff like "pink building Eastern Europe" won't do much for ya :)

    Well done, it is indeed Irkutsk. I generally try to pick places I've been to - hardly recognised Irkutsk on Google maps as I'v only ever been there in the heart of winter. Short drive from lake Baikal too, well worth a visit.

    Plenty of clues... LHD, very Scottish type building on the right, and a ferry leaving to the north.

    Going to bed so someone can have my go.

    BTW, like Mike I've been to Irkusk, but also in winter, early 1997 in fact.
