Learning new words

    What's the best way to try and remember new words? What do you find to be most effective? At the moment I've been making lists of words by categories e.g. colours, jobs, body parts etc. and trying to learn them off. Would it be better to learn full phrases that use the target language?

    Learn a synonym for each word may help.

    Depends on what kind of words you're learning. If it's e.g. household items or colours or other adjectives like “big“, “small“ etc. I find it helpful to attach word stickers to the respective objects.

    Pictures may also help, particularly to people whose ability to speak a language they are learning isn't that good.
