I had a Scirocco R for a few months. They're 2.0 Turbo and Super charged. Serious car. Very quick. 252 BHP.

€5250  shhhhtap! half that, maybe. yeah, eg9 saloon, getting rare etc etc.

the reality of it is, it's pretty rough bodywork wise and i'd wager a fortnight ago it was slammed on coilovers with a set of chinese rep wheels.

at a distant glance it is an immaculate example but they didn't remove the skanger mods well enough to fool most i'd say.

Was that drivers seat originally a passenger seat in a 3 door?

Drivers seat looks stupid the way it doesn't match. The rear driver side wheel arch is bad enough too. Sounds like absolutely mad money although I'm not that up on what they make.

the jap plates aren't fooling anyone, it's a UK car.

Damage to both rear wheel arches, both sides of the front bumper, look how out of line the boot is in the 3rd pic. imagine trying to find a matching original drivers seat (which i'm sure an enthusiast would want) etc etc.

i had no idea hub caps and a tape deck offered a 400% increase in price.

It has the Ferio badges in the rear doors, a rear wiper, and is showing on motorcheck as not being a uk import though.

indeed the ferio and the brown glass had me thinking it was jap, but isn't eg9 a VTi model which is the UK version of an SiR? also has screw holes in the bumper from an oblong euro plate and UK wings with side repeaters. but it does have a flare in the footwell which is japanese, but then it looks like the lighting is on the left hand steering wheel stalk which is UK...

actually my head hurts and i'm not sure anymore. either way, madness. if i had 5k and i was a 90's honda enthusiast http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-integra-type-r-uk-spec-%22/8443004

That's the (rear) wiper stalk you're seeing there.

Its obviously been smacked at some stage. Wings don't match the doors

Do the ukdm models have thermostatically controlled aircon like that?

That is a jap import. The UK vti model had the Vin tag on the bulkhead behind the battery and came with different fabric on the seats. They didn't have a back wiper either. The screw holes from a previous plate is meaningless. Probably acquired those when it came into this country.

I agree. If it's a good one it's priced very fairly. Not saying I'd pay it but that's what they make.

^Those ones seem to appear in this thread regularly!

A quick search for 'Golf Anniversary' on donedeal shows that one to be priced in the middle of the few genuine looking ones for sale atm. Like the other posters I wouldn't pay it but they are much nicer than a standard mk4 gti.

My Dad had one of those Civic shuttles, he bought it without seeing it for €500, he kept it for a few years, gave no trouble at all! and with the seats down it was like a van! we even got a moped into it one day,
He was saying for years after he sold it why did he get rid of it!

I have a garage 02 golf TDI wagon (as a loaner while the wife's car is being repaired) and I can't fault it. It's got 174,000 miles on the clock. OK, not the same as a GTI, but the thing is solid and you can see why the VW fanbois get into such a strop when you badmouth the golfs.
Good poke (130 bhp) and torquey - if thats a word. But my point being, 13 yeas old, big miles and absolutely fine to drive. There is reliability issues with the newer diesels (and there are lots of them) but the old skool diesels are great to drive.
I was nearly out of diesel today and the car started chugging, it was empty, put 10 bucks worth of diesel in, presto - no chugging.
Its a PD 130 unit that was religiously serviced apparently.
Personally, I've had bad experiences with VW and I'll never go back, but you can see why some fanboys will pay big bucks.
